I don't understand why minford didn't go for the field goal in the fourth, it would have put them down by 8.

Hats off to both teams. Sometimes the ball falls your way and Burg definitely had the ball falling their way, that’s football. Disappointed I missed this one sounded like it was a classic Scioto county. Good luck to Burg next week and Minford seniors congrats on the playoff appearance and good luck in life.

Great game. Minford played with a lot of heart tonight just fell short. Really surprised by the empty seats on the burg side. Then the burg announcer announced several times for kids to make a tunnel and nobody came out.

Congrats to the Pirates on the comeback win. They looked like a completely different team the 2nd half. According to the radio Matthews had 207 rushing yards.

Great season by the Minford Falcons. Very solid team. How they lost to Oak Hill blows my mind.

As for the crowd, the people of Wheelersburg that have reserved seats should be ashamed of themselves. A first round playoff game, at home, against a conference rival, and there are that many empty seats in the reserve section. If you aren't going to go to the games then give up your seats to someone who will.

When?

Minford was down 14-10. Got stopped. Burg drives and scores. 21-10. Burg covers kick and scores. 28-10.

This situation never happened.

Craziness. Minford at The Pirate 49. 2:30 to go

Burg up 28-17

Risner catch to the 41. OB. 2:24
On that onside kick, didn't the ball have to go past the 50 before it can be touched by Minford or since there was a 5 yard penalty that moved the ball back to the 35 does it just have to go past the 45? It definitely hit a Minford player before it got to the 50.

That's been like that a few years on the reserve seats plus I think there was some kind of play being put on tonight in Portsmouth that had some Burg kids in it.

Officials were good
A lot better than out at Minford

On the offsetting penalties, they called Lewis for an illegal forward pass but also called Burg for roughing the passer. How is that a penalty on Burg if Lewis is past the LOS???

Did they mean to call a late hit out of bounds? They for sure called roughing the QB

The ball only has to travel 10-yds, or be touched by the receiving team for the kicking team to recover.

To your second question, it was a hit outta bounds but was called a roughing the passer. Semantics

Minford better than I have credit and Burg isn’t as good as I wish they were. But win and advance. Good crowd and atmosphere.

By the way, great game by both teams. Burg came out flat but still held Minford to just 3 points in the first half and then they came out in the second half and turned it up a notch. Then had to hold on to dear life to get the win. Would have been interesting had Minford gotten that last onside kick.

So the penalty doesn't matter!!! I don't understand that. I would think it has to go past the original LOS which is the 50.

If that is the case it was a good kick as it hit the Minford player around the 47

I’m not sure. I am in Beavercreek after attending the Volleyball State Tournament these last 3 days. I noticed that no one was doing updates so I tuned in to WNXT-FM on my TuneIn Radio App and started doing updates.

I did leave today after the D2 final to watch LSU and Bama. Only had the front desk called on me twice for yelling at the Tv. And btw Parma Padua Franciscan was #1 ranked nationally and played #2 nationally ranked Mount Notre Dame last night. Parma Padua won in 4. Then tonight Columbus Desales knocked the Top Ranked team off their pedestal in 4. High School sports can be crazy!

They should have simply called this an unsportsmanlike conduct or late hit and it would have simplified things

Wrong on both accounts.

The penalty "matters" because it was a personal foul. That offset the illegal forward pass.

On a free kick the ball has to go 10 yards. Penalties don't change that.

Correct, PF-unnecessary roughness, late hit outta bounds

Correct again. That's what I said, the ball has to travel 10-yards or be touched by a member of the receiving team.

Minford lost the game on the lack of preparation for the trademark predictable Wheelersburg onside kick to start 2nd half.
