"Youngest" School in SE Ohio area
I've been thinking about this. Several people have been asking about all time teams, all time players, etc,
Some schools can go back to the 80s, 70s, 60, even back to the 30s and 40s.
So, what is the "youngest" school in our area?
River Valley opened in the fall of 1992. So the 2020-2021 school year will be its 29th year.
What are some others?

South Gallia would be the newest, wouldn't it? It was formed when they broke away from River Valley after the consolidation of Gallia Co. schools.

Yes. I believe late 90’s. Lots of consolidations in the 60’s. Vinton County will be 54 years old this coming season.

They were school before consolidating though right?

Believe Adena and Zane Trace were "born" within a year of each other (1967 Adena? (1966 ZT for sure) first graduating classes)...making them the youngest in Ross County. Adena was a consolidation of: Frankfort, Clarksburg and maybe a sliver of the former Buckskin school district (Buckskin last class was 1965 for sure). ZT absorbed all (or parts) of the former Centralia, Kingston, Adelphi and Laurelville school districts...

I heard there may be some sort of deconsolidation thing taking place for Logan if school start is delayed. Thinking of sending only the town kids to Logan and farming the rest out to other area schools. This would supply a drop in enrollment that would let them get into the tvc and have a better chance at playoffs.

I just found an article in the Logan Daily News from 1996.
Logan's JV played South Gallia's Varsity (it counted as a JV game) in '96. So that could have been their first season?

Losing the Rockbridge kids to Berne Union would be bad.
Losing South Bloom and Gibetown to Logan Elm would be worse.
Losing the Haydenville, Green, and Union Furnace kids to Nelsonville would be a killer.

Yes, South Gallia started in the fall of 1996.
So, it looks like the 2 Gallia County schools are the youngest in SE Ohio??
South Gallia at 24 years
River Valley at 28 years

Are those considered two separate schools? I was never sure how to treat them in my all-time playoff database.
