Burg radio or video this year

Post by callie15 »

I was just wondering if there will be media coverage this year. They have a great following year in and year out, and it seems a shame if the people that follow them have no media way to follow them.

I believe they will be doing some sort of Facebook live coverage similar to what they did last year. It was a part of the schools page. This hasn't been confirmed, but just an assumption.

While it is good to have media coverage, how are radio stations going to work around the attendance restrictions?

From the OHSAA:
The OHSAA encourages media coverage of all games and working media members are not counted toward the capacity limits for spectators. Approval and placement of media members will be determined by the host school Athletic Director depending on the layout of the facility, including how many people are permitted in the press box. In small press boxes, due to social distancing regulations, there will not be space available for media. At field level, media members must be outside the team box, which has been expanded this season to span from the 10-yard line to the opposite 10-yard line. Media must also stay at least two yards back from the in-play field boundary. Media must wear a facial covering at all times. As always, media should contact the host schoolโ€™s Athletic Director well in advance of game day to request permission to attend and, if approved, discuss their placement and access during the game. Media are not permitted in the locker room.

Wheelersburg v. West is in the works for a TV broadcast as well.

I wonder how its going to sound when they are broadcasting the entire game with masks on?

Good question. I have noticed though that deepite some unintelligent mumbling through masks early on, the tv talking heads seem to have mastered the face covering.

You are both correct. OHSAA instructions say all media wears a mask at all times. But the Ohio Dept. of Health - DIRECTOR"S ORDER - states on page 5 -paragraph vi no. 5 states - The Individual is actively participating in broadcast communications (this is one of the exemptions).

OHSAA is providing guidance and help to the member schools. But the Mandatory requirements are those of the Ohio Dept. of Health. OHSAA is simply providing the sport. But the judge, jury and hopefully not - the executioner - is the Ohio Dept. of Health.
