Definitely need to work on that in practice 2 touchdown returns for kickoffs in 2 weeks is no good. But besides that ironton still has not allowed an offensive score since the gallia game

Sycamore had big horses. Ironton had stronger horses. Pretty solid game for the most part against quality talent. Got to be one hell of a confidence boost for a team that appears to already believe in themselves.

Pity region 19

And he ran/tackled like it too. That manchild is a beast!

Not really. It was a 4th quarter KOR that made it a one score game and got the ball back to Ironton immediately.

Sycamore looked exactly how I thought they were going to. Big bodies and some speed but not overly impressive for being a D1.

Ironton, however, more than exceeded my expectations. Wow! They look faster and more sound than the state runner-up team last year. Assuming we do indeed get Kirtland v. Ironton for a state title rematch, it may be a “game of the century.”

Yup. Sycamore was talented. Not world beaters. That said, it's still a win against a D1 program from a talented D1 conference w d1 losses & d1 wins against d1 comp. Ironton takes a page out of Kirtlands approach. Nicely done. Staff to players. Ironton is faster, deeper, more diverse on both sides. ( compared to the 2019 edition) These kids can flat out PLAY and NOBODY wants to tackle or get hit by the All American.

So do i need to clean up the penalties though
Agreed. However, another perspective to consider: they are good enough to burn a quarter on mistakes against D1 talent and still get the job done. Lot of positives to consider and use as motivation to clean that stuff up. I seen the body language of a team who believes in themselves. I think ya gonna have to cut out ya own heart to beat em. Imma say it again.

I pity region 19.

On the long run by Carrico, he had defenders beside him ten yard from scrimmage and put the ball under his outside arm and just kept putting yards between him and the boys trying to catch him. I would say they didn't look for that kind of speed for someone his size.

Great win by ironton. Didn’t see the game but I always thought Carrico would be more dangerous in high school as an offensive player. He’s definitely a game changer on that side of the ball.

I noticed Kirtland was idle this weekend.
Anyone notice/think if any of their coaches showed up to scout the Tigers?

How would they get a ticket? Is Ironton selling tickets at the gate? They might have watched it on Youtube though

Ton of confidence going into the bye. Stay healthy, tighten up, get healthy and this team is set up to hit round 2 with their hair on fire and on full go. At home too?

Gonna be HARD to stop.
