November 3, 2023 Cincinnati Country Day 26 - 14 Paint Valley

Post by Bumpy »

Ok, going out on a limb a little bit. Calling a mild upset here with 8-3 PV over 11-0 CCD. I looked at CCD's schedule and saw that they had a soft path to the 11-0 mark, not a signature win to say they are a top tier team. I know,I know, you have to play the schedule you are given. On paper CCD will be a significant favorite having blown out nearly all their opponents with very lopsided scores, but something tells me the Bearcats are going to show up with their A+ game and surprise the Nighthawks. PV 28 CCD 24.

Eastern (pike) played them in week 11 last year, and lost by one score. The Eagles lost momentum when their stud linebacker went down with a significant injury and had to be transported to Cincinnati Children’s. PV could absolutely upset.

Paint Valley HAS to clean up the dumb penalties that Parkway consistently got them with for countless offsides. And they were flat for most of that second half. However I can see PV pulling this one off rooting for them

Just out of curiosity, exactly what PV win would you consider a "signature" win?

I wasn't bragging about PV's schedule, I was only pointing out that CCD had probably the easiest path to an 11-0 record of any D6 school I know of. I admit the SVC isn't exactly a gauntlet when it comes to football. However after watching some video of CCD I don't believe they could have won against WJ,Unioto or ZT either.

That's a good analogy, I really was just curious.

While CCD didn't play a very tough schedule you've got to respect a team that goes undefeated AND only gives up 20 points defensively during the regular season. They did play 4 teams that were at least .500 or better, and PV's schedule isn't exactly something to brag about, if CCD is tough in though in the trenches PV won't win this game. I know nothing about CCD so kind of hard to give a prediction but with PV traveling down there let's go with CCD by 14.

CCD had an impressive season but they played the 3rd worst schedule in D6. If PV doesn’t turn it over multiple times, I got them winning

Paint Valley is about to leave Cincinnati Country Day with a win and make it to the Regional Semifinals.

Anyone give any insight into how this game unfolded? Not surprised by the outcome just curious if it was turnovers that plagued PV again.

Country Day simply beat PV up front… Stopped the run, pressured the QB and played great coverage behind it. Offensively CD had a good qb #7 and Rb #6… both ran hard.
Great Kicker also for CD. Knocked down 4 field goals! One from 40+ yards.
