For what it’s worth, Vinton County has a new Superintendent. He is a Fort Frye Graduate. I believe FF was denied membership into the TVC by a vote or two when they last applied. Would this super vote for FF? Could this be their ticket into the TVC Ohio? Would this super also be in favor of the other Washington County schools? That’s a good question. I think the likelihood of the TSL merging with the TVC may be a little closer than it was 2 months ago. IF the TVC is willing to move to 3 divisions, the addition of Washington County could be closer to becoming a viable option. The 2 division format would work also but would stretch the enrollment from top to bottom.

I like the two divisions. Looks like that could make seven conference games with the other three going to rivals, closely traveled or games to boost the schedule.

My only argument with any three division format is this........

Nelsonville-York has a winning record against every team in the TVC Ohio. In any 3 division format, NY needs to be in the big school division. If NY were in a small school division, NY has dominated the schools it has played. Trimble has the most success against NY, but historically, even Trimble is no where close to having a winning record verses NY. Alexander has only beat NY twice. River Valley twice. Federal Hocking has only beat NY one time. Wellston only has a handful of wins. The all-time record is an absolute blood bath for those schools.

I hate when everyone starts talking about "expanding the TVC" It has yet to happen and probably won't happen for a while lol.

I was simply asking what everyone's predictions are and who are key returners for each team...

Some of Trimble’s best will be suiting up in Orange this season. It’s unfortunate but is what it is. The “dynasty” that Trimble has enjoyed has come to an end I’m afraid. I just don’t see them recovering from the the past few years and now the most recent debacle. Sad.

Who from Trimble is coming to NY?

I've always said if NY and Trimble ever consolidated, that team would be crazy talented in nearly every sport.

Also heard that Uncle Phil is going to head over the hill and call the offense for Rusty and Brady is going over to call the defense. Apparently neither of them are wanted at Trimble since their jobs weren’t renewed. So four coaches that were basically fired are now going to be coaching together against the school that didn’t want them. I’m picking those guys in a beatdown. Ugly early often.

Is this true? They weren't renewed? That is shocking to me if true.

It is true. Phil retired and Brady’s job was cut. One of the Guffy boys ran the camp this week.

Wow. I wonder how many players are coming to NY?

Actually, with all the cuts that have happened and will happen, I wonder how many Trimble kids will open enroll overall at NY just to have a chance to have access to extracurriculars?

I’ve been hearing that there are a lot headed that way. I think having Rusty and now possibly the other guys is a big reason at least for the football players.

On the Trimble SD Facebook page, people posted that when Phil retired, the coaching job had to be posted internally for other employees to apply. None did. So now they have to take applications from outside the district employees and Phil applied.

This would need to happen every year as long as a current employee never wants the job.

Phil applied for the job and is not coming to NY. Brady is also not coming over the hill in any way.

Phil Faires is back at Trimble, according to last night’s school board agenda. Three other coaches were hired. Alicia Drake is the new girls volleyball head coach, Josh Lavy is the new girls basketball head coach, and Eric Tabler is the new boys basketball head coach.

Eric Tabler. The Spanish teacher at Federal Hocking? I don’t believe he ever coached basketball.

It’s interesting that this is only the process for football and no other sport. Seems a little odd to me.
But with all the uncertainty due to mismanagement by the top administrators and the resulting loss of players to transfer who would really want the job? Just a few short years ago they would have had countless applicants for the HC position.

I'm guessing that this is a rule in the union contract, but I would assume it would be for all sports and all other supplemental contracts too. In which case, if a current union employee wanted to raise a big stink about an outsider person being hired for a position they wanted and applied for and no other union employee was hired for it, they probably could do that and be successful.

When Howie was basketball coach, and he was never a teacher there, they renewed his contract every year and several of those years there were teachers wanting the job and they still hired Howie. So I doubt that it’s in the contract. I think it’s more of the top dog is pisszed that people are wanting him to take accountability for his poor decisions and leadership and this is his way of showing them who the top dog is. After all, Phil has no recourse because he’s no longer a union member. And top seems he11 bent on running it as far in the ground as possible so who cares how many players transfer, right? He’s still getting paid and he’s a retired retread so where’s the harm as far as he’s concerned?
