Re: 2025 OVC Football
Late spring prediction I’d go
Coal Grove
Fairland
Rock Hill
Portsmouth
Chesapeake
South Point
Gallia
2-4 could maybe flip flop. Would be shocked if CG doesn’t win the OVC with what all they return.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
Rock Hill will be lucky to win 4 games. They lost their best player to graduation. Lost 4 of the 5 OL to graduation. Lost their leading tackler (transfer).Lost their best WR (Transfer). Tony Love is not that great. His success at Ashland was due to an abundance of athletes. RH goes back to the same ol same ol in 2025.
4-6 (4-7) after they make the playoffs

Herd rumors that Shelton is heading to greener pastures.
That'll hurt.

First off, seriously doubt he's moving, which he'll have to do unless he wants to sit out half the season. Second, wouldn't make much sense to move and go somewhere he won't play. At the end of day though, if he does, it's not like he'll be missed, as he only played in a few games last year anyway.

Completely agree, frostbite. Especially last year's coach.FrostBite42 wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 8:16 am Key word-GOOD Coach

I've seen a lot of bad coaches, but nothing comes close to that guy. He left a huge hole in the football budget by refusing to fundraise, didn't bother to reach out to the boosters until week 5 i believe, had multiple disciplinary issues within the team (heard qb1 screamed in his face?), showed up 30 minutes late to practice everyday, show up late to team events, and even showed up 2 hours late to a game (yikes). And lets not forget that he got tromped on by his 3rd grade students all year (grown man by the way)
It looks like the new coach has most of these issues resolved, though. 54 kids is a heck of a start. Good luck to the boys in the blue this year!

OVC lost Portsmouth when start pushing out teams this what happens to your league. Gallipolis will be next it won’t be worth the travel.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
Gallia needs to apply for the TSL or TVC. More natural rivalries there and the travel wouldn't be much worse than OVC fare. I personally lean more toward the TVC route since that would mean at least one yearly win over RV (kidding, but also kinda true) plus historic rivals like Athens, Vinton County, and Meigs already being built in, which frees the non-conference slate. RV being 15 minutes away is also a big bonus. Same with Wellston being fairly close. The closest OVC opponent (Fairland) is a longer drive than every TVC opponent outside of Athens County, for what that's worth.osu 77 wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 8:37 am OVC lost Portsmouth when start pushing out teams this what happens to your league. Re: 2025 OVC Football
Yep, GA is the red headed stepchild of the conference now. OVC doesn’t seem like it has a clear direction it wants to go, just my opinion and from what I’ve read. A 5 team OVC would make football scheduling near impossible. If travel is the reason that Portsmouth left then they won’t be the last to go. If the OVC wants close proximity, not sure how they don’t court Symmes Valley to move from the SOC.
Re: 2025 OVC Football
Would love to see GA in the TVC.. would even up the Ohio and finally put all the expansion and multi division talks to rest.
If you slotted them in where the open spots are on the schedule it would look like the following:
Week 1: non-conf
Week 2: non-conf
Week 3: non-conf
Week 4: Wellston
Week 5: Nelsonville-York
Week 6: Athens
Week 7: Vinton County
Week 8: Meigs
Week 9: Alexander
Week 10: River Valley

Re: 2025 OVC Football
I agree with your thoughts. GA in the TVC would be a benefit for both parties. With that said, if I’m the OVC, I am calling River Valley and Oak Hill to try and make a more westward expansion to benefit Gallia and their current island.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 9:03 amGallia needs to apply for the TSL or TVC. Oak Hill was a school board vote from joining the TVC a year ago so I would imagine the TVC would entertain a call from Gallia.
2023 Football Pick’em Regular season and Playoff Champion.
Re: 2025 OVC Football
If Portsmouth is officially leaving the OVC, I'm for Gallia looking toward the TVC. However, the TVC and TSL need to merge and form a true Tri-Valley Conference that includes 3 divisions.
TVC Buckeye
Marietta
Warren
Athens
Gallia Academy
Vinton County
Point Pleasant, WV
TVC Ohio
Meigs
Wellston
River Valley
Alexander
Nelsonville-York
Fort Frye
TVC Hocking
Waterford
Belpre
Trimble
Federal Hocking
Eastern
Southern
Gallia Academy Hypothetical Football Schedule
Week 1: Meigs
Week 2: Fairland
Week 3: Wellston
Week 4: Portsmouth
Week 5: Jackson
Week 6: Vinton County
Week 7: Marietta
Week 8: Warren
Week 9: Athens
Week 10: Point Pleasant, WV
*Gallia could replace the Wellston game with Ironton once the program gets back to winning.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
TVC does not need to go to three divisions. It needs to add a team to the Ohio or hope someone takes River Valley.

Gallipolis to the Ohio would be beneficial to all. This would be best case for Gallia. The other options would be to stay in OVC on an island or for the SOC to add Jackson Gallia and Ironton to realign.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
As much as I'd love to see GA playing Jackson every year, SOC II ball has most of the same problems as OVC ball. Gallia is essentially making four trips to Portsmouth with Valley, West, Portsmouth, and Burg. (I'm assuming the Trojans moved or are moving to the SOC II?) Add in Minford at an hour away, and Oak Hill is really the only close opponent.SEO Sports wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 11:34 am Gallipolis to the Ohio would be beneficial to all.
