Yes sir!! That is a HS athletic contract where a team will agree play two years at the same site. The team accepting the contract would travel both years. No team that is successful as ML would accept that contract but it was worth the try I guess. ML is far more successful and if anything should be offering home and home to Ironton.

Re: Wheelersburg vs Ironton
I know this years game is at burg again.
But I really do believe it will be another running clock on Burg.
Ironton is going to be a beast for the next 3 years.
The kids has bought into the program and are dedicated to it.
That is huge on this level of a program.
The MAC schools are doing the same kids are dedicated to the program that is why they are so successful

Re: Wheelersburg vs Ironton
Did Wheelersburg get some transfers? I see their CB number went from 10 last year to 15, while Irontons dropped to 19.

19 to 15, the gap closed quite a bit from last year, maybe the Burg will be a little more competitive this year.fbnut wrote: Wed Apr 16, 2025 12:02 pmi hope so, have to try to catch irontonohbuckeye2 wrote: Wed Apr 16, 2025 11:49 am Did Wheelersburg get some transfers? Boys if either school has any transfers they don’t want or kids who want to transfer due to incoming transfers, send em down the river to Portsmouth. I want them all, not ashamed to admit it.

So Most of the folks I know from Burg put pinto beans in their shaker jugs. I guess if they got hungry they could cook em up. Ingenuity and Southern Ohio hillbillyness at its finest. They think they aren't hillbillies but they are. I find it hilarious. Go Burg! Let's play some football.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Ironton
I love this rivalry but I am ticked off the game is not the first game of the season this year!! I look forward to this game every year as the start of my football season. I hope sanity rules next year and beyond and the game is moved back to thdd ex season opener.

I will be surprised if this game is played again next year or the following year if I Ironton puts a running clock on them.jeep80 wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:48 am I love this rivalry but I am ticked off the game is not the first game of the season this year!! If Pendleton is still at Ironton it maybe another Ashland situation only deeper because of embarrassment of the Beating Burg is taking.
They talk about Ironton recruiting they don't have to recruit they just win and players want to win homegrown and transfers.
Each player pushes the other to be better and they don't despise each other they are brother together and want to win.
That is the difference Ironton wants and ask the best of every player nothing is given it is earned and the players knows and expects that.
Burg can claim we are a homegrown team and don't have transfers that is fine but the fact is Ironton has build a winning formula that kids want to play and win in.
I have no hate for Burg I want to see them win in all sports it keeps SE Ohio relevant as I do all local teams to win.
But Burg thinks it has the upper hand on scheduling and at the moment they do but what happens when they get another running clock put on them will we hear its because of the transfers or because of the hard work and the coaching that is put in by the players and the coaches.
Ironton is a different beast from years ago they are no longer the laughing stock of Southern Ohio yes they are independent and it will take time to get a schedule together year by year but they are striving to be the best of the best.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Ironton
This is something I have always felt was important when talking about Ironton recruiting. Do they, I’m sure they do. But my guess is a lot of the kids who move in seek out Ironton. Who wouldn’t want to play for a young, hungry state title winning coach. He’s a local guy who played D1 at MSU, he was invited to an NFL camp, he promotes his players like no other, great equipment and all the bells and whistles, or drip as the kids say. Kids want to win, parents want their kids to win, Ironton is a place that’s winning at a high level. Now you hear the rumors of apartments and so on, I know of an instance myself of a Burg player living in FF who went to Ironton his senior year. It wasn’t legal, but the same can be said for Burg when they poached Lat & even Bend back in the day from PHS. All you need for the OHSAA is an address in the district and case closed. A bunch of schools do it, but it gets noticed when schools start winning. Myself I feel if you want to win and can make it happen then shoot your shot, if you want to continue and build a legacy or memories where you started or in your community then stay.fielddaddy wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 11:46 amI will be surprised if this game is played again next year or the following year if I Ironton puts a running clock on them.jeep80 wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:48 am I love this rivalry but I am ticked off the game is not the first game of the season this year!! Re: Wheelersburg vs Ironton
We have to open up a spot ion our schedule for P’Town since they are moving to the SOC. All these Ironton fans like to try to blow smoke saying a running clock and it will probably turn out like all these wins they projected this summer in 7v7. We all know how that has turned out with 0 wins. They don’t have the Terry kid now and he was a game changer. Nobody can dispute that but they don’t have another unless they can find him to transfer in.fielddaddy wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 11:46 amI will be surprised if this game is played again next year or the following year if I Ironton puts a running clock on them.jeep80 wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:48 am I love this rivalry but I am ticked off the game is not the first game of the season this year!!
