Ironton and the OVC

Post by Better Find Bob »

With the current state of Ironton football, should they stay in the OVC, or look elsewhere like the SOC I division?

Travel would still be fairly close, so that would be a plus.

Lol come on... I like bashing the tigers, but they still are in the hunt for the ovc. Last time I checked they are still the ovc champs. Also, the soc1 is probably better than the ovc. Oak Hill usually beats the ovc schools. Heck east would probably win the ovc this year.

Oak Hill has already been taken to the woodshed by one OVC team and will probably be again this week. East is pretty good this year but they are traditionally solid year in and year out

Personally I hope Ironton wins the ovc and gets the 8 seed vs burg just so I can read more idiotic posts from big mouth ibtt about how they are going to destroy burg second time around lol

LOL, well that was a quick trip for Ironton in the OVC. Struggle a little and already to pack up and move to where it's a for sure championship. Come on now. Looks like everyone's concerns over Ironton running the league are all for not. Good Luck hopefully they can turn the program around.

Does Ironton have a soccer team? If so, maybe that's where all their athletes are? If not, maybe they should start a soccer team.

I'm a Burg fan, but I say hang in there Tiger fans. I remember several years ago when Mike Schmidt coached at the Burg , [don't remember the year ] the Burg played Ironton at Ironton. We were beat so bad we punted on 3rd down to keep from losing more yardage every series It was worse than this years game. Thing are constantly changing and your turn will come along again.

In all seriousness, what happens when a couple of county schools beat Ironton? Is there any one school that causes this coaching staff to be fired on the spot? Will the boosters pull funding if changes are not made? And does any quality coaches really want to come to a town where the finest cuisine is Big Boy if the current regime is thrown out? Stay tuned folks, stay tuned.

There's the BURG....then there's everyone else!

Their are two teams that have caused this staff to be fired... Wheelersburg...Russel....

Let's toss out some names Ironton will go after to be the head coach for next year...

Current Wayne, WV Coach Tom Harmon
He runs the double wing, a variation of the wing T with the ability to throw out of it easier, run jet sweeps and options. He's proven with multiple state championships with NO ties to Ironton. He gets production out of his players because of their offseason work. This would be a huge/great move for Ironton and the OVC. Is it possible? IDK!

I say there are three schools that could make that happen

1. If Ashland comes in and lights up the score board next week in Ironton's first home game I could see the coaching staff getting their walking papers.

2. If the Tigers take the trip out 93 and Rock Hill lays the smackdown on them I could see the coaches taking the busses back to Ironton but that would be the end.

3. If Coal Grove comes to Tank and is able to beat the Tigers hands down then that could have the coaching staff needing police escort out of Tank.

I'd add Chesapeake at 4. They play at Tanks Stadium this year as well
