Athens hasn't really changed a lot in enrollment. Athens biggest class ever was 1972 with 250. Athens is around 200 today. I wanna say Logan was around 190 before consolidation. The first 50 years Athens was considered the big school in the seoal

Athens was in the very first division 1 state finals won on the field. Back in 1928

Logan was a small H.S. in my Jr. High years as consolidation occurred. People want to forget Logan was a LONG TIME small school in the SEOAL and STILL WON. The consolidation brought in Union Furnace , Enterprise, Rockbridge, Gibsonville, South Bloomingville, while Murray City went to nelsonville, Laurelville went to Logan Elm and Gore went to Miller. None of those schools had football, so Logan gained nothing except numbers who lived too far away to participate in many cases. Logan was never a county wide single school district until that happened playing many SEO schools twice their size ( and whipping their butts).

How many did you graduate with? And when did Logan start having 300+ a grade?

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray

Come Friday Night will there be a New Boss. Or will it be the Same Boss.

Logan was alot smaller before consolidation. From what I was told years ago the old West Hocking School District talked in the late 50s to build a centralized County school but lacked the needed votes or interest to become a reality . All the old outlaying schools had no sports except Basketball so they in fact added very little to Football . Travel back then was more troublesome than today so county kids were at a disadvantage. Same goes for today but Logan is not the only school that this happens . I think the same applies to VC. Just curious how things would have looked at Logan being a Div 3 or 4 and a second school ( the old West Hocking ) being a Div 5 or 6. The big school problem would not exist today. Not saying one way or the other if better or worst , just saying what if and just adding a little more info. One thing for sure we have what we have and will have to whether the storm of a below norm year . Wishing the the Chiefs good luck and hoping for an injury free game for Logan and Athens. Go Chiefs!!!!

Plenty of consolidation in Hocking County.

Here's a brief history as I know it:

Year Closed:
1934 - Haydenville (Hawks) - consolidated into Logan
1934 - Ilesboro (Eagles) - consolidated into Union Furnace

1960 - Rockbridge (Red Raiders) - consolidated into Logan
1960 - Gibisonville (Tigers) - consolidated into Logan
1960 - South Bloomingville (Dodgers) - consolidated into Logan

1962 - Carbon Hill (Bulldogs) - consolidated into Buchtel-York (or Nelsonville)
1962 - Murray City (Miners) - consolidated into Buchtel-York (or Nelsonville)

1971(?) - Laurelville (Wildcats) - consolidated into Logan Elm
1973 - Union Furnace (Warriors) - consolidated into Logan

And a sample of Logan's graduating classes:

1936 - 77 graduates
1940 - 129
1945 - 102
1950 - 100
1955 - 91
1960 - 142
1965 - 226
1970 - 210
1975 - 282
1980 - Approx. 300
1985 - Aprox. 293
1990 - 328
1995 - 286
2002 - 260
2015 - 282

Logan still is usually just below 300 per grade.

Logan had about half that when Paladin graduated.

Logan doesn't have to be better than Athens in 2016.

They have to be better than Athens TONIGHT.

Logan has a chance each of the next two weeks to put together performances that save the season. I hope the boys come out and play with pride and make Athens and Jackson work their tails off. Nothing to do but play the game and get better each week.

Go Chiefs!

Think Logan is going to have to wait for the first win.

Athens seems to have a good formula with Sano at QB.

South Bloomingville actually consolidated into Laurelville 1960 and then later when Laurelville went to Logan Elm SB for the most part to Logan . Same result.

Wow. So now the question is how bad is Athens and how good is Nelsonville? That week 10 matchup will still probably be for TVC Ohio but lost intrigue in my opinion
