You should actually be embarrassed by this statement. It says that you are a Cavalier Alum, but yet you are tearing down the team and the coach? You might want to know that Coach Hinton is now 4th in wins in the history of Ohio High School football. Therefore, he has won far more than hes lost. Why don't you support your school, team, and coaches...they have earned it.

What has he done at Chillicothe again? 1 playoff win? 2 playoff wins? in how many years? He brough that farm boy run the ball down you throat mentality to CHS and that just doesn't win ships when you are going up against OCC teams (oh wait we are not even in the OCC anymore and it still doesn't work). I want nothing more than to win friday but ive watched this song and dance wayyy too many times. Did you not read about the Jackson game? Thats not the kids fault at all, thats coaching

Go tell Coach Brian White at Hilliard Davidson that the farm boy run the ball down your throat doesn't work. You might also call up the coaches at Kirtland, and Hartley and let them know too. The problem at Chilli is that people, such as yourself, have this defeatist attitude and kids listen to that garbage. You want a program, make a difference. Get ALL the kids in the school that can play, out for the team, and then encourage and support them. Coach Hinton and Coach Arndt are some of the best coaches this state has to offer...they'll always put a good product on the field.

In regards to Jackson...do you honestly think that a coach told the player to throw the ball? Seriously? LOL
Or do you think that maybe, just maybe, a 16/17 year old kid panicked and made a mistake. Irregardless, the end result was a win for Chilli...

Yea but um, the product on the field has not been all that great.
Dude has been coaching since the 80s man fall back, of course hes gonna be up there in wins. Look up his record while at Chilli, its nothing to brag about.
The reason us alumni might sound salty is because we know the talent here. and it doesnt scream .500. yea we have been .750 for a couple years but nothing to show for it. Chilli has speed, use it. We will see how these QB draws and designed runs do against CM!...oh, and there will be a million of them called

From an outside perspective not knowing much about the inner workings and day to day pulse of the program, to me it looks like Chillicothe has made improvements each year since Hinton has taken over.

Playoff appearance last year, bad draw against DeSales. A playoff spot this year almost guaranteed and perhaps a home game. I think most teams that start to make playoffs after an absence start to immediately assume wins in Week 11 and sometimes it just takes time or a few years before Week 11 appearances turn into Week 12 appearances.

Chillicothe to me moving forward will be one of Jackson's biggest challenges. Physical attitude combined with what always seems to be very athletic players (sort of like a Wheelersburg) is sort of how I view Chillicothe moving forward. That combination is pretty lethal at any level especially HS.

That being said there seemed to be some playmakers (punt/kick-off returner comes to my mind) that should maybe gotten some touches on the offensive side of the ball, but maybe he did and I am forgetting things from Week 2.

Regarding the end of the game mistake, I think you were out of timeouts, maybe should have taken the delay of game brought the QB over and told him you wanted him to just take the safety. I don't know, but that is probably more on the staff than the kid so I see your perspective.

Overall I think Chillicothe has a lot of momentum moving forward, new facility upgrades (some of the nicest in the area) clearly some excitement with the kids and seem like good numbers in the program. I think that Week 11 win and beyond will come sooner than later.

Good luck Cav05 in Region 11 this year.

Oh i am super stoked about our facilities! They are so so so nice now and will only get better upon completion. Makes a nice draw for future playoff teams so its always nice to watch great HS football in November around here.

As a Chillicothe Alum and past football player I can say that coach Hinton has had his learning bumps with Chillicothe's football program over the last five years but I think the Chillicothe kids are finally starting to buy in to his style and system. The problem that Hinton had in his early years is that he tried to bring Amanda clear creeks style to Chillicothe rather than making adjustments based on the type of atheletes we have in Chillicothe. This year he has changed things up from a two back power football system to a spread option style which is perfect for the team he has. Hinton has also seemed to have a disconnect relating to the Black Atheletes in Chillicothe in previous years as well but from what I hear the players seem to really like him and have rallied around him with the passing of his wife this offseason. I say all this to say Chillicothe is rolling and clicking on all cylinders and Friday night the fruition off all of that will be on display and they finally get that big time win that will catapult the program in a big way. Hope the stadium is packed and ready for a big time showdown ! Go cavs

If we can continue to utilize our speed on both sides we will have a good shot. I want to see more plays for speed around the end and quick passes. Get these kids in space! they are fast!

Wheelersburg scrimmages Chillicothe, but they need Massie scheduled in a big way. Week 2 would be a perfect fit for both.

I just went 85 yards straight thru the heart of the south- Ezekiel Elliott 1/1/15

Taking the Cavs in this by 3.

Special teams gets the win for Chillicothe. Field goal, punt/kick return, something like that is the difference.

I agree, I would also like to see this match up. Burg is supposedly picking up some new games in the next few years, I would like to see two more quality opponents on the schedule.

I think Chillicothe takes the W in a good game however, they will have to earn it. CM has one of the best strength and conditioning programs in the state with most of the team training at the Strength Lab all year, expect 4 high intensity quarters. I would like to see a CM and Waverly 1st round game.

This could be Clinton-Massie's only challenge in the conference this year. So far, they have outscored the conference opposition 199-14 and overall 289-71. C-M is averaging 41.3 ppg and giving up 10 ppg. Chillicothe is averaging 34 ppg while giving up 13.7 ppg.

as with any new coach there is always a "learning curve" for both the coach and his players. Coach Hinton and Coach Ardnt are great football coaches and even better people, "Rome" was not built overnight". Yes Chillicothe is way different than Amanda Clearcreek and that is why it took some time for coach to learn what was best for his kids. Just ask Coach Kellough, how many years did it take him to adapt to his players? and we all know what happened from there. Multiple District and Regional Championships and a State Title! The key to the game tonight will be our linebackers and our defensive ends-stay disciplined and execute your assignments! And yes, this is the year that Chilly knocks off the mighty falcons and makes some noise in the post-season

Coach K, Im sure was a great coach. but ask yourself, what does talent like humpty, chambers, knight and dawes do for how good a coach can be? What did humpty, knight and dawes have in common? A structured home life! That structure isnt necessarily the norm in chilli.
A clown would have won a lot of games with those guys. Hinton isnt in the occ with chilli like coaches in the past were. Chillicothe is what they should be. A top tier team in a league that is substandard to the talent they have. Its good for chilli that since they have a coach like hinton there, they havent slipped below the local svc teams.

wrestlefan- no disrespect to past Chillicothe football coaches intended, you are right he doesn't have to coach in the OCC. But the point I was trying to make is that it is a process! You are prolly right that a clown could have coached that group of kids and won a lot of ball games but do you think if Coach Kellough had not adapted and stop running the "shuffle" (that he ran for years at ZT) they would have been that successful ? My point is that every coach has to learn their players strengths and weaknesses and it takes time.

1 year... it took coach Kellough 1 year. we made it to the Regional Semis in his second year at CHS.
Kellough knew what he had at CHS which is why he came. Influx of talent and he ran with them, literally, we ran people out of the gym with our speed and athleticism. Unlike Henton, as i mentioned earlier. He tried to play smash mouth football with finesse like speed athletes, it just doesn't work.

I have a feeling the Wheelersburg/ Minford game is gonna be boring, so I'm not wasting my money there. I'm gonna make the trip up US 23 to catch the "Best team in Southern Ohio" small school football besides the Wheelersburg Pirates.
