What SE Ohio county has the best football teams???

Post by battlecats »

I being from Scioto county would have to say we would be at or around the top with Wheelersburg and Portsmouth being the top two. Followed be teams like Minford, Portsmouth West, Lucasville Valley and then smaller schools such as Sciotoville East and Portsmouth Notre Dame are competive around SE Ohio. Green and Scioto Northwest are usually on the bottem.

I dont know alot about teams a little farther North but when it comes to the counties like Scioto, Pike, Lawrence, Jackson, Gallia, Meigs, Vinton, and Athens I would say Scioto would be 1 or 2. What do you think? Anyone have any comparative analysis?

Not the most successful but Pickaway County should be in the top half:

Playoff appearances this decade:

Westfall - 2007 (regional champs), 2006 (regional semifinalist), 2005 (regional semifinalist), 2004, 2003.
Circleville - 2007 (regional semifinalist), 2006, 2004, 2002.
Logan Elm - 2004, 2001, 2000.

It would be hard to argue against Scioto, but Athens hasn't been to bad.

Nelsonville-York, Trimble, and Federal Hocking have all been successful and seen the playoffs the last few years. The Buckeyes have a state title to their credit as well.

LAWRENCE COUNTY HAS HAD MUCH SUCCESS, IN THE PAST. IRONTON NEARLY EVERY YEAR. MISSED ONCE IN LAST DECADE OR SO. ROCK HILL HAS MADE IT 3/4 TIMES. COAL GROVE WAS ALWAYS A REGULAR. SOME TEAMS LIKE SYMMES VALLEY, SOUTH POINT , FAIRLAND, AND CHESAPEAKE HAVE MADE APPEARENCES. WE HOLD OUR OWN THERE. WITH 7 SCHOOLS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY.

LATELY THOUGH , PROBABLY MORE SCIOTO COUNTY. AS FAR AS OVERALL. I THINK THATS FAIR TO SAY.

I didn't forget about Miller but they're not exactly a "power house".

Yeah, it's hard to judge since Scioto, Ross and Lawrence are so much more populated than the rest of the district. I'd say any of those 3 are about even now, maybe with Athens as well but over the long run Scioto probably has the deepest history.

ROSS COUNTY FOOTBALL

Ross County has 7 PUBLIC High Schools. 6 are in the SVC and 1 is in the SEOAL.

As of late, The Chillicothe Cavaliers from the SEOAL went 8-3 in this years 2008 season, with two DIII playoff games. Defeating Canal Winchester and being defeated by Logan Elm. In the 2006 season, the CAVS went 7-4 with one DII playoff game, losing to Bishop Watterson.

Here are the best football seasons Chillicothe has compiled over the decades. As you can see, they are not many but Chilicothe has compiled some great wins over the years. The C.O.L. and OCC took a toll on our Cavalier Football Teams from the 1940's through 2005. The SEOAL is the best league Chillicothe has been in since their SCOL days.
