WK 2 (1-0) Warren @ (0-1) Philo

Frankly, it's a step forward that we are even talking about a passing game this year. When was the last time that we thought passing could be a real factor for the Warriors? The last few years it wasn't even an issue because it just didn't happen. That's not saying anything against those QBs, but they were always running (we're talking flat out sprinting) for their lives. Neither of the QBs this year has much varsity experience. Ellenwood didn't get to play JV ball, so he has no QB experience other than what he gained mopping-up last year. He has more varsity experience at wing from his Freshman year. Hilverding played QB in the 8th grade and on the JV last year, not much varsity at all. Give 'em a chance to work into it and we'll be a better team for it. For crying out loud, they WON last friday. Philo will be a tougher test. But, I do think the Warriors can make a game of it.

Let's hope Warren utilizes all of their offensive weapons. If this happens they may pull this one out.

Saw a varsity coach at the Jr. High game last night (Warren's 7th/8th grade beat Marietta's 8th grade 16-0 and had two TDs called back). The varsity is feeling like this is truly a winnable game. We'll see tomorrow! Go Warriors!!

Sounds like the Jr High coaches know how to open up an offense !!! Young Leffingwell put up some good numbers, according to the paper 8 - 10 -1 157 yards 2 tds . Vincent had 5 catches 104 yards and 2 tds. Pitched a shutout on defense too !!Good job by the little Warriors and always good to beat Marietta in anything!!!

Hopefully the Varsity coach was taking notes and will open things up some Friday nite !!!

The Warren Freshmen defeated Philo in hard fought, mistake laden game yesterday 6-0. Let's get another win tonight!!

Whoopee, Warren freshmen stumbled somewhat on offense, maybe because of solid play by Philos Defense in the 9th grade laast evening. The same can be said for Philos Offense and Warren's Defense. 6-0. This was possibley one of the best lower level games you will see this season. Great job on both squads part. Look for the saw result tonight. A good solid defensive game and of course a Warrior win would make for a great Labor Day weekend.

game went as i expected but i figuered philo would score 40 or so. Warren looked as usual, which is no offense, no defense, no signs of improvement, no weapons, no passing threat, etc.

how can you say warren had no defense? they allowed only 6 points in the first half...1 td was because of a blocked punt that went into the endzone. The defense isn't the problem. The problem is that the offense could not move the ball. Period. This combined w/5 or 6 turnovers and stupid penalties mad for a long night for the warriors. Don't blame this one on the defense though.
