West and Wheelersburg are foing to get hurt by the tough league that Portsmouth and Ironton play in. Those wins were huge for West and Burg. On the other hand, South Point will produce a lot of points now, just like Coal Grove and Wellston will for Minford. While Burg, West and Minford control their own destiny, the South Point Coal Grove game will be big for the SOC II teams playoff possibilities.

There has been alot of talk and speculation about Minford,West and Burg as far as the playoffs are concerned.
So I did some calculations on what could happen

Everyone agrees a three way tie puts all three in (2 will get home field) but what happens if 1 or 2 teams finish 8-2 which is most likely as history shows us

Heres what i came up with!!

Minford- 8-2 (lose to west and burg) 15.55 to 18.45 in likely at home
Burg- 8-2 (lose to minford and west) 15.40 to 17.25 in maybe even home(we love Ironton!)
West- 8-2 (lose to minford and burg) 11.5 to 14.80 most likely watching week 11

any of the 3 go 9-1 or 10-0 will be hosting for sure

So, are you saying Waverly won't beat any of these 3 teams?

In the above scenario i have all three beating waverly to show the difference in non league schedule performance. Note that I underlined the word COULD. To answer your question NO I dont think all three will beat Waverly but I do think 2 of them will.

I can't see West making it in. They haven't played anyone worth many points at all except maybe South Point. They're undefeated and they're clinging to the 8th spot. If they lose a game, it'll definitely put a them in a tricky spot. They still have two huge games against Minford and Burg.
I get the feeling looking at the Buckeye's schedule that NY is a paper contender. We'll see how good they really are when they play Ironton.

Portsmouth West 2008
8/22 A Fairland (1-4) [4:15] W 21-0 @River Valley
8/29 H Portsmouth (1-5) [4:15] W 34-0 @Warren
9/5 A South Point (3-3) [4:15] W 28-7 @Coal Grove
9/12 H Rock Hill (0-6) [4:15] W 42-6 Home vs Chesapeake
9/19 A Chesapeake (2-4) [5:19] W 49-20 @Rock Hill
9/26 H Northwest (1-5) [4:15] W 57-0 Home vs Valley
10/3 A Waverly (3-3) [4:15]
10/10 A Minford (6-0) [5:19]
10/17 H Valley (3-3) [5:19]
10/24 H Wheelersburg (6-0) [5:19]

West is fine. All they have to do is take car of business. Win all 4 and a home game, win 3 out of 4 and were on the road week 11.
We should pick up several 2nd level points as Fairland, SP, Rock or Chessy all should or will win. That's 3 and possibly 4 wins as it wouldn't surprise me if Ptown won though not probable. Plus the 3 victories Waverly has if we beat them.

Good thing for us is that were still in and we have our 1 win NW game out of the way. Burg and Minford still have to play them.

Fairland will probably go 2-2 in the final 4 (Wins against RV, who will probably win one more game this year; and maybe they'll beat Chessy)

South Point is West's best bet to rack up points in the OVC.

Rock Hill could easily go winless...

Chessy MIGHT end up with 5 wins - the Fairland game can go either way.

Valley will probably end up with 4 wins.

On top of the lack of quality wins thus far, you have to consider the possibility that West will lose to Minford and Wheelersburg.
Also, you can't forget the other quality teams who are sitting on the fence right now just waiting to take West's place.

It doesn't matter who wins most of the games in the OVC, because except for CG and RV, West beat the rest.

West won't loose to Minford and Burg, and if they did, they probably don't belong in the playoffs anyway.

DV Region 19 is very interesting!

From BURG, Minford, and West all on the SOC II...then there is NY...

If BURG MIGHT loose to West, they should still get it, now if BURG beats West, it will be a little hard for them....they might get in at the #8 spot, but idk....

Minford lookd like they was going to have to win out to evern get in, now that is not the case....this weeks Minford vs West game means A LOT when it comes to the Playoffs...

I cant wait till Friday...this is one BURG fan that will be at the Minford/West game...

Good Luck Falcons...

We are...The BURG!!!!

Burg will host a game at 9-1 or 10-0,8-2 gets them in. Minford will host at 9-1 and I think they will get in at 8-2. West will obviously host at 10-0, 9-1 maybe will host but will get in, if they finish 8-2 with loses to the burg and minford I think they will have a hard time getting in.
