All good except for St. Charles. They have been trying to get a game with Logan for a couple of years now. Ironton is too far and Logan presents better points.

4. Chillicothe

10. Portsmouth

Not to say Ironton would do the same thing, but I find it odd that Zanesville announced they were leaving the SEOAL after this 2008-2009 season. Then their AD schedules Chillicothe, Logan, Gallipolis, and I think Marietta and Jackson for the 2009 football season :?:

Thus, leaving the SEOAL playing another non-round robin schedule again in the 2009 season. The round robin schedule does not begin until the 2010 season, right? I find that too funny. If you want out of the league then why play 5 football games with it's member teams after you exit it? I know Chillicothe has a little past with Zanesville from the old C.O.L. but why waste another game with them when we could of played Marietta in a league contest. Instead, we don't and are playing 4 non league games next year. One being with Zanesville at home. A team who left because of travel and gate draw? If your arguement was travel and gate draw, the same thing Zanesville said, then, a few games back on one of these threads, one major Zville Poster noted, it was really because of the non-competition, that Zanesville was leaving the SEOAL? Yeah right :!:

That is why Zanesville was 1-2 against Chillicothe, 0-3 against Logan, 1-1 against Ironton.

My point is, has the Ironton AD already inserted the 2010 schedule for Ironton? I can see Chillicothe playing a series once in a great while with Ironton. It usually is a great football game. And I can see Ironton keeping their rival Portsmouth on their schedule. Even keeping Gallipolis too. And maybe Jackson if they will play the Fighting Tigers after they depart the SEOAL.

But look at those teams mentioned. If Ironton plays all of them on a steady basis, that means they will be playing the SEOAL South-Division and their argument about travel and gate draw will look weak, just as Zanesvilles argument did for leaving after this season.

If your playing the same teams from the league you just left, then where is the evidence for the reasons stated for departing the SEOAL?

I wish Ironton the best.

I've heard a lot about gates. It's beginning to sound like the same argumant Ohio State and Youngstown State use to schedule their game. So, do the teams that pack the stadium start hosting smaller teams and pay them to play so the larger school can have seven home games? What about playoff points? I mean, are we running a business or trying to compete fairly and honestly. Hamilton Township is paying LOGAN to go to their stadium for the second straight year. Could that be because we will fill their bleachers and overflow along the fences? I'm pretty sure we will make some money on that same game in Logan the next year. I'm a realist but it kind of ruins things when decisions have to be made on who can make the most money for you on your schedule. It's a shame because this Logan-Ironton rivalry is a really good one and now it might go away. We'll fill that slot with somebody but I mean Pick North?! A good game but it's just not the same thing.

I hate to see our game go away with Ironton to. It was a great game this year at Chillicothe.

Its just a little more physical in ohio.

So, in Kentucky, the runner is supposed to run upright and not protect himself? That's crazy. I can understand not allowing a runner to use his helmet as a weapon but not allowing a runner to lower his head for more yardage is insane. Is that just a pee wee rule?

Buckeye Cav:

Maybe Zanesville isnt leaving the SEOAL because of football. i dont think Ironton is leaving because of football. It is the other sports and the travel cost, with little in return in the area of revenue.

What Zanesville did with their football scheduling is good for not only Zanesville, but the member schools, who would have had to scramble for football games to fill in 2009. Remember, ironton is basically ging a 2 years notice here. Zanesville gave one. By keeping those teams on the football schedule you keep continuity and helps the scheduling process going forward.
Other sports are far easier to schedule than football.
I would love to see ironton retain Jackson, Gallia, Chillicothe and portsmouth

Im worried about you NCF. Your starting to think like me. You know whats scary when I was getting ready for work this morning I was thinking about this topic and one of the teams I thought about was Poca. What a game that would be the Dots vs the Tigers.

heres one for Chesapeake

Oak Hill
Symmes Valley
Vinton County
L.Valley
Waverly
River Valley
South Point
Rock Hill
Coal Grove
Fairland

I really would like to see the Peake pick up Vinton County and Waverly again. When only have a two year contract with them and split games against both teams. And just Drop Wayne (WV) off the schedule last time we beat that team was 99.

Ironton is NOT the Ironton of old. This Sked would punish the kids, literally. Really tough.
But who knows?

Looks like there would be some long trips, not much different from the seoal.
40% of the schedule is Ky.Teams :122248

I would think Ironton is going to have to travel to get games anyway, at least in football.
they may get closer games in other sports though.

I for one, hope they keep Chillicothe!!

Here are mine in order of importance to TRADITION, points, and gate:

1) Portsmouth - tradition, tradition, tradition
2) Ashland, KY - tradition, gate
3) Gallipolis - tradition, very respected opponents
4) Wheelersburg - D-5 but lotsa points on the line, gate!
5) Chillicothe - renewed rivalry - should always be competitive, lotsa points
6) Jackson - tradition - neighbor to the north

7) Portsmouth West - give Triplett a shot at revenge, gate
8) Nelsonville York - new rivalry???
9) Belfry, KY - formidable old KY powerhouse
10) DeSales - if IHS can get back to their old level of play. If not, RUSSELL!! (gate)

Gotta admit, I do miss the old independent days when you got the new Ironton schedule and wondered who in the heck some of these new teams are. Sometimes they weren't much, but sometimes you get a Beechwood, KY surprise. And I don't see anything wrong with keeping a Canadian team on the schedule. I think about 20 Ohio teams played a Canadian team at some point this year. Canadian teams will continue to get better, and it is better than a 9 game schedule with a bye week.

This would be a great schedule for the years coming especially with the great classes that will be coming in the system. Class of 2010,2011,2012, and not a bad class with 2013.

Burg
Ashland
Russell
Jackson
Chillicothe
Gallipolis
Portsmouth
Portsmouth West
Nelsonville York
Columbus DeSales

IHS played Cabell Midland back in the late 90's. IHS lost at Cabell Midland by a bunch, then the Knights crossed the river and got whipped.

Midland will never cross the river to play Ironton again after that fiasco.
