Post by RioProf »

Any boy in Gallia County entering grades 3-6 in the fall of 2009 are invited to attend an informational session regarding a new traveling midget football program. The meetings will be on Monday January 19th at 7pm or Wednesday January 21st at 7pm or Sunday January 25th at 2:30pm at the University of Rio Grande Bob Evans Farms Hall Room 118 (The big bldg across from the soccer field). You only need to attend one meeting.

All boys and their parents are highly encouraged to attend. For more information or if you are unable to attend please email cfwinters@gmail.com.

Coach W --

Can full-sized kids play, too, or only just little people?

This is an excellent idea. I hope it is still going on when my son becomes old enough to play!!!!

What effects will this have on the current MFL in town?

It shouldn't have much effect. We have to keep the numbers somewhat low because of funding and the fact that we do not want to take anything away from the existing league. We know there are boys who couldn't afford it or do not want to travel or who won't have the parental support it takes. So hopefully not much.

Jackson, Vinton County, Chillicothe, Adena, Southeastern and Circleville. It is nice little league that offers some very good competition.

assassin --

I love that avatar, but why would you say the county school system needs to start its own program?

I know a lot of people in Gallia County dislike the Gallipolis MFL because they maintain that it is used to recruit county kids to come into Gallipolis and play.

This is for ALL boys in Gallia County. It doesn't matter which school you go to. This is in no way a recruiting tool for GAHS or any school in this county. We are trying to design the uniforms with all the schools in mind so the boys will have some sense of pride for their high school they will be attending. My goal is to make every boy that makes this team a better football player as well as a person. This team will be run very professionally, they will get very good instruction and get to experience things they may never get to even in high school. Even though it will be hard work, very competitive and a lot of learning - it will be FUN.

Once again this is not to take away from the MFL in Gallipolis. The MFL has its need and does a good job. This just gives the boys another option instead of going to Meigs, Point or Oak Hill. I have heard the need very loud the last few years and now we hope to fulfill the need and give the boys an awesome experience.

Please pass this along to as many people as possible. Unfortunately the Tribune failed to put it in the paper all last week.

January 31 is a Saturday. So Is the meeting on Saturday, January 31, or Sunday, February 1.

If it is on February 1st, you may want to reschedule it with the Super Bowl happening then.
