They'll be decent. They're young but very talented. Andy Long will most likely be the starting QB (Sophomore I believe.) He also started Varsity defense so he has some experience. I saw him come in for one snap against Alexander, his first pass was intercepted but I think he can learn from his mistakes. VC will also be bringing back a couple of offensive line back. Mathew Smallwood will probably get most handoffs. Defense will be the weakest spot. Lost nine Seniors. Only two starters are returning. (Mathew Smallwood and Andy Long.) I hope Justy can turn this team around. I've seen some good promises. My son also told me they changed their schedule up. They dropped Point Pleasant (who is in the WV AA State Championship), they dropped Jackson, Waverly and Piketon. My son told me he believes they picked up Gallia Acadamy and South Point. I will try my hardest to figure out who the other teams are.

I think that once they start to win some games that more people will start to play. That is one thing that is hurting really bad in my opinion is the numbers are too low. VC wont keep a coach either. When they start losing the decide to just blame everything on the coach. its not all of the coaches fault sometimes the talent just isnt there. plus when you keep changing coaches it just messes with your players so much. I think that if they will keep Justy for more than 3 or for years things will start to turn around.

It was 5-5. VC has only had two winning seasons since the turn of the century. 2003 6-4 & 2004 8-2

I heard that VC picked up Bloom Carroll again for home and home starting 2012. They played twice about 4/5 yrs ago - i think they split.... BC is looking for their 5th coach in about 7 yrs but they have some talent coming back - should be a good matchup for both!

I don't think BC is on the schedule next year. They did have a home and home a few years back but BC swept both games.

Are they dodging Jackson, or did Jackson drop them? With the schedule they have they should be 4-1 or 5-0 going into TVC play. I sure hope so cause the Bucks need the playoff points.

4-1 or 5-0????
Are you aware of the current state of Vinton County football? They will be lucky to have 1-2 wins in the first 5 games...
Let's be honest, VC has never really been a force in high school football. They have won the league 5 times, all in the 90's and our league isn't exactly the cream of the crop; they have only made the playoffs twice in the school's history. People need to be realistic here. Look to win 4-5 games in a season and build from that. When you go in with unrealistic expectations you are always going to be let down. Don't go off blaming the coach the talent level is just not there. It will come in spurts every now and again but VC will not be a team that produces 7-10 wins every season for a long time if ever...

As far as I know it was a mutual decision to end the Jackson series. Vc in recent years has had no shot to beat Jackson, and Jackson hasn't gained much from the wins either. I like the schedule with the exception of south point. I think vc should have picked up another SVC school instead. Over all though, I think the Vikings have a good shot to win 3-5 games. Rebuilding sometimes means you have to step down the schedule. Get the kids and the community back into football, and then when you have momentum, bump up the schedule a bit. It starts with confidence and thats what vc is trying to accomplish with th new schedule.

i agree with dundas we havnt beat jackson since what 1997 it is about time for the teams to go seperate ways. i think that if we can start to win some games going into conference then maybe the players will feel that they can win conference. as much as i hope to see them win tvc i dont think they will any time soon but who knows. i always feel that any team can win on any night. i dont really think that south point and bc were teams we want. I would have rather seen teams like southeastern and rv or morgan. both of those teams have had trouble and since rv will be joining tvc hocking it would be good to let them start playing a tvc team.
