They fumbled on a 4th and 3. No guarantee they even pick up that first down. The play of the game for me was the 4th and 6 Waverly didn’t convert. They pick that up and I think they win the game

They fumbled on a 4th and 3. No guarantee they even pick up that first down. The play of the game for me was the 4th and 6 Waverly didn’t convert. They pick that up and I think they win the game
Maybe...but I still don’t see how waverly is being considered by far the better team. I saw one reporter even saying Massie escaped. I’d say the better team capitalized when it mattered. Nonetheless, it was a great game with two great teams.

The fumble was caused because Waverly played the option well, confusing the QB and causing the fumble. So in a way it was caused by the defense.

They fumbled on a 4th and 3. No guarantee they even pick up that first down. The play of the game for me was the 4th and 6 Waverly didn’t convert. They pick that up and I think they win the game
I'll have to agree with mlittle.
The fumble was caused because Waverly played the option well, confusing the QB and causing the fumble. So in a way it was caused by the defense.
It looked to me like the defense was right on top of the play anyway so even if the handoff was clean it would’ve been stuffed

Defense played stout in the second half... the field goal was only points massie scored in the second half...

I understand everyone is upset Waverly lost the game...but stop with the "better" team lost crap. If they were better they would've won the game. You can sit there and be a keyboard hero and attempt to justify your reasoning but the "what if" stuff is just dumb. They lost. Get over it. I bet if I would've placed a bet that CM would hold Waverly to 28 points most of you would've laughed at me. CM had a great game plan and it worked. I'd say the better team won.

Waverly had a phenomenal season and lost to a program that consistently competes for regional titles every season. Those kids from Waverly have nothing to hang their head for. They played a heck of a ball game.

How many claimed Waverly was the better team?

Shoedaddy relayed a message from a CM fan who said he didn't know if the best team won.

Sports-nut said the Tigers was the more talented team.

Anybody else?

I don't think anyone said Waverly was the "far" better team. If you watched the game, Waverly didn't capitalize or get any points inside the opponents red zone three times. Massie stepped up on D and Waverly made some mistakes. Personally I would have thrown the ball to Futhey more on the last drive. I think Massie scored everytime inside the 25. Give credit to Massie they won the game and deserved to do so. However, anyone that watched that game, would not have been surprised if Waverly won. Pretty sure most of the Massie fans know they dodged a bullet or two.

Same could be said if Waverly was told Massie would score 31 points they would think they won easily. It was a great game and both defenses stepped up. I don't think Waverly is crying that they lost the game. I relayed what a Massie fan said and if an unbiased person watched that game, they could have easily said the same. Great programs with winning traditions have ways of winning those close games when you think they are going to lose. Good luck to Massie, bring home another State Title.

What are you talking about?? No one that I've seen has said Waverly was the far better team, both teams do what they do well and each were able to find a few times to stop the other. Given my prediction was Waverly 35-28 If they played a clean game I wouldn't have laughed. Clinton Massie is a running team that knew it's best defense was it's offense they shortened the game and cut down on Waverlys possessions. Pretty simple stuff, watch the QB for Massie that's why he watched the back judge most of the night. You made more of it than anyone has. It was a great game, how many CM fans thought it was over when they went up 2 scores in the 2nd half?? Enjoyable game would've made for a great atmosphere and both teams showed respect and class all night and after the game.
