It has been so many years now that the success Coach Lutz has brought to this community is taken for granted at times. Coach and his assistants have turned so many young boys into men and taught them respect and discipline. They have been instrumental in keeping the community united and a source of our common pride through so many lean years. Keep it rolling.

Congratulations to Coach Lutz are the order of the day but I would also like to say a very sincere thanks for so many seasons of Friday night enjoyment and excitement that has been all of our collective pleasure. We are so proud of you and our Fighting Tigers.

I also celebrated before the game with a nice fish dinner at the Knights. Lots of former players and a former coach
(Gene Jones) were in attendance. Mr Mum was running the kitchen crew and Mrs Mum was enjoying a celebration of Senior night for her niece, even that fine looking Mill Street Granny was in attendance.....(Had to throw that one in)....

The after game celebration was great, great company and good cold beverages. I even had a few with the Postman and the Sanitation Engineer and Chuck P. We had a floral executive at our table also.


On topic......I dont think I can say anything that hasnt been said about Bob......it has been a great ride and it is not over yet.

I don't think my night could've started off any better TTT. Was good to gather with family and friends and enjoy the atmosphere! You know Mill St. Granny doesn't frequent many games nowadays and I had her escort me to last nights. She really enjoyed it, but still asks what inning it's in. Baseball still her favorite...sigh...I've tried, I really have.

Coach Lutz was honored at the end of mass today by Fr. Huffman. Fr. Huffman said win or lose on Friday night, he knows Coach Lutz will be at mass Sunday morning , he said he knows for Coach, God comes first. Fr. Huffman also had a piece in the church bulletin eventhough in went to press on Weds. Fr.Huffman laughed and said he guessed he was confident the Tigers were going to win.

Dutch: I can attest to that fact about attendance for him the morning after a late night of football with long travel involved. When Jay played in the 99 state game, we got home sooooo late. All of us gathered in the gym to welcome the team back and we stayed for awhile. That one was probably harder for him to swallow than it was for any of us in the long run. I know Jay spoke to that in the interview in the commemorative edition of the Tribune. Coach Lutz was at mass at 9 the next am, with his sidekick in tow, Hammer. As to Fr. Huffman's pre-printing of the announcement in the bulletin, the Mill St. Granny asked him what he was going to do at the end of the game Friday if we hadn't won. He just said, "Get the scissors out". He's a hoot!

Oh..one thing I forgot to mention...did anyone notice in the film that one of the first things Coach Lutz done was make sure that his 'right hand man' Mike Burcham was standing up there with him?

It's great to see these coaches getting their dues...

i had an amazing time friday night, the game was great. a very spirited nelsonville york team. a great victory. the home stands were very nearly packed like the old days. and the celebration , was amazing. it was an awesome night, for all included. i hear we've locked up a home playoff game. but we cannot overlook a game warren warrior team. it's special bein a tiger.

and last but not least , mike burcham, pat sheridan. and the rest of the supporting cast. but i think these are the 2 biggest reasons besides bob lutz that has put ironton football on the map. none are any less important than these 2. but these 2 were long timers , that really helped mold ironton football with coach lutz. congrats men, and all the players.
