1987 -

I think Logan showed against Lancaster that they are going to run the football more, including using more "POWER" "O" than we used all last year.

Last week, I don't think ANY offensive scheme would have worked for our personnel against their personnel.

And once Logan fell behind, it took pretty much all of the running game out of play. I think we'll continue to see more running out of spread AND Non-spread formations.

Jurgensmier, Graham, and Cavinee along with Lindsey can all carry the ball out of the bacfield.

Logan needs to stop the bleeding. Speaking of which, I have knee surgery this day so I won't be using my season ticket and parking pass. I'll be listening although the Vicodin and Bud Light may distort my reception!

Joe Eitel's ranking are out and lots of surprises. Joining Logan in the lower ranks are Brookhaven & Louisville, both winless. Reynoldsburg has upcoming games against Grove City & Newark that are winnable and has already beat Toledo Scott, so there are points there to get. Too early to say about the later part of their schedule and its a must win for Logan now, so a good effort is needed.

i agree LL. i like the spread but, you have to have the right personal to run it effectivially. i think what kelly did in the lancaster game is what he should be running. more running oriented formations and with the league schedule coming soon its going to still keep everyone else off balance on the d-side of the ball.
i was just wondering what everybodies thinking.

Louisville lost to Walsh Jesuit (strong program) and North Canton Hoover (good D1). They are rebuilding much like Logan and also have a new head coach.

I wouldn't call the region weak. Some of the unbeatens include New Albany, Big Walnut , Lake, Marion Franklin, Walnut Ridge & St. Charles. Several very good teams with one loss who should have strong seasons too. Chiefs have to win starting now.

Brookhaven lost to Marion Franklin and Davidson no weaklings there but Haven doesn't seem to be as strong as last years unit..I've been saying since the end of last year Logan should be going back to the running formations,I like the I formation myself,,recievers are not as athletic as years past but Logan can still sneak in passes to keep defenses honest but their strength has got to be Graham and Jurgensmire running the ball this year and the spread probably helps Jurgensmire run more effectively than the traditional running sets.I got a feeling anything they run here before long will look good though.

Chiefs have to run the table to even entertain hopes of playoffs. I don't see it but this Friday is a must win. If they lose this one, they need to concentrate on winning the league.

This is the kind of game I wish was a standard for Logan every season. They should play Reynoldsburg, Groveport, Canal, Lancaster, Newark and Zanesville every year. Sounds like the basis for a pretty good football league.

d&c -

The reality is that Logan will never get an invite to the OCC and the OCC isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

That leaves Canal, Logan, and Zanesville from the teams you mentioned. Zanesville has a pretty good home now in the ECOL.

Now, I think there is certainly potential for a shift in the MSL (Mid-State League) that could be an option for Logan, but that remains to be seen.

Good start, But take out Lancaster as a league game and insert a soon to be 3rd Pickerington High School or Chillicothe or Logan Elm.

By the way if the Chiefs lose to Reynoldsburg kiss the playoffs good bye! I will have my pick this Friday, 2-0 good start for the Moon, Bad start for the Chiefs!

I know. i wasn't dealing with reality but only a drift toward what I think would be a good start to some new league. The OCC will not consider Logan but the OCC is getting too big and awkward. New schools coming on line in the Columbus area will only make it moreso. At some point, some of those teams (at least to my way of thinking) might begin to seek an alternative if the league becomes more Metro-centric. The teams to the North and West of Columbus will continue to grow and proliferate, leaving some members to the South and East to feel alienated. Kind of like what Nebraska felt with the addition of the Texas schools to the Big 12. It could happen at some point.

Back to tonight's game. After two weeks of competing with teams of superior talent and size, the Chief's tangle with a team who I believe is closer to the Chief's in talent and size. If and if is a big word, the Chief's limit there mistakes and continue to improve there tackling skills, I see no reason for the Chief's to lose tonight.

Logan 24
Reynoldsburg 17
