GAHSNOW wrote:Just curious, do the schools that can't field teams such as tennis, cross, soccer, etc...what are the reasons? Can't find enough interested players or is it an AD decision, or something else? I think it would benefit some of the smaller schools to have a policy that allows for kids to compete in more than one sport. I know I always feel sorry for Gallia girls having to play on the boy's soccer and tennis teams......some of those girls are really good and who knows what they could do if they had their own team.

I agree. I have seen the girl that plays on the boys tennis team and she is very good. She doesn't have a lot of confidence but from what I am told she plays #1 singles on the boys team. That is pretty impressive.

Four horse race! Any one of the top four schools could win - depending on spring sports.

Warren's boys track team should be decent this spring.

Warren should be strong in Boys and Girls track along with baseball too.

As of now it looks like Warren has the best shot in taking it, but if Logan can get the baseball team to come around they will be in the hunt.

Chillicothe is out in front now but their track teams will be too far down to keep them there.

If Marietta can have a strong showing in Baseball,Softball and tennis and with their track teams being in the top four they could pull it out

Ten point leaders for spring

Softball looks like Gallipolis
Baseball looks like Zanesville
Track is looking like Warren in the boys and Marietta in the girls With Gallipolis getting ready

Tennis I think is Athens and Chillicothe

Spring sports are coming to championship time. Who do you think will finish at the top for the AST?

Picking up some big points will be Gallipolis/Logan in softball, Zanesville/Jackson in baseball and Athens/Chillicothe in Tennis.

The coin flip, or pill box, or # drawing thing really kind of make this thing a bunch of hogwash.

I have said it before and I will say it again - this Trophy should be decided by athletic performance, and performance only - the lottery has no place in it.
