I would be more likely to blame the college coaches than the high school coaches. I've never met a High School coach that doesn't promote their kids.

Because of APR NMSU only has 10 scholarships this year. Trevor was not offered but he was offered preferred Walk-on Status a redshirt and chance to travel with the team and be a player for them. Because of Trevor's Academics they think he will go for close to nothing anyway and Coach Mumme was very high on Trevor and will do all he can to get Trevor there. He just doesn't have a scholarship to offer.

We shall see what happens.

There is no final day. I guess the first day of fall camp would be the final day.

Good article as mentioned above by Tigers2010...which basically expresses surprise (as have many locals on this site) about the apparent lack of offers made to a very talented kid who is also an outstanding student and a very coachable young man.

Does anyone have an update?
Is Trevor going to wait it out until Feb. 7th?

I heard from a Waverly alum that Toledo is prepared to offer him a scholarship. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Sports 101, not sure where you heard that but I would be very shocked if that were true. He may sign a LOI before April 1 but I am not sure Toledo is going to offer, although they have courted him pretty hard!

He did verbal to NMSU, he will accept a grayshirt offer just like Todd Boeckman did at OSU.

Go Aggies!

Talk about it in Aggie Sports Connection
On a day that saw NMSU sign 18 players on a very busy NLI day, one player that isn't grabbing any headlines and has quietly flown under the recruiting radar. Aggie fans, meet your future quarterback.

"Gray shirt" is usually a term or status that no college football recruit wants to hear coming from a head football coach. That is, unless it's coach Hal Mumme and his heralded "Air Raid" offense. But that's exactly what Trevor Walls is slated to become when he joins the NMSU football team in the fall.

So who is Trevor Walls? First, let take a quick look at his high school stats.

Walls, a drop-back, pro-style quarterback for the Tigers of Waverly, OH, led his team to over 25 victories. Walls also threw for over 5,500 yards. During his senior campaign, Walls threw for 2,002 yards and racked up 20 touchdowns, all while only throwing 4 interceptions.

Those familiar with coach Mumme know how much coach Mumme cherishes the tall, athletic quarterback, and Walls doesn't disappoint. Walls stands at a towering 6'6", 215. A perfect fit for the Aggie offense. Aggie opponents will be in awe seeing a such an intimidating figure under center.

Now with NLI signing day behind us, Walls will gray shirt his first year at NMSU as coach Mumme has no remaining scholarships to hand out. Walls appears to be fine with that decision as he's convinced playing for coach Mumme is worth the wait.

With Chase Holbrook wrapping up his senior season at NMSU, Walls will be sitting quietly on the sidelines awaiting his turn. Walls will be learning from two of the best in offense in coach Mumme and Chase Holbrook. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Looks like Mr. Walls will be wearing number 11 for the Aggies. Good Luck Trevor, make southeast Ohio proud.
