Please Mr. Officer, don't give me a DUI. I mean, yes I am drunk, and yes it's against the lasw to drive like this, but I didn't mean to hurt anyone. Really?! That's the logic of the previous statement. He wasn't trying to hurt him on purpose so we shouldn't do anything about it.

Personally, I would have buried the kick-off through the uprights, but that is me. Regardless, the onside kick happened AFTER the play in question. I have nothing against the kid or the coaches at Ironton personally. We have all done things in the heat of the moment that we shouldn't have. However, I hate it for the young man whose season is over and for his teammates who have to move on without him. And it's hard for me to believe that reasonable people are defending the actions of the Ironton player.

Your DUI analogy isn't even close to being logical. Did the Ironton player not receive a penalty for his late hit? Yes he did, so they correct penalty was put forth. A DUI is a criminal offense. You get arrested then arraigned then you probably see jail time. You get more jail time if you injury someone. That's totally different than a penalty in football. You don't get more penalties if someone gets hurt. Its 15 yards unless the officials find the penalty so outrageous that they will access a unsportsmanlike penalty and toss the player in question. They did gave him a 15 yard penalty for a late hit that can happen on any play.

Of course it can happen every play.....but it doesnt because most kids can keep their frustrations at bay. Obviously this one couldnt.

So he got a 15 yard penalty (or his team did), yet the kid from Burg is out for the year. Does that seem right?

7-8 yds deep in the end zone....thats not a cheap shot? Just a late hit?

Yes he got a penalty. And when Wheelersburg fans got on here and said he and/or the coaches needed reprimanded for injuring the kid on the play and you responded with "it wasn't like he went for his ankles."

Plain and simple, it was bush league and no reasonable adult should be defending it.

Its not right, but its the rule. I said it wasn't necessary, but he hit the kid late and got the penalty for it. Was it cheap? No wasn't cheap it was just a late hit.

I figuted after the thrashing Ironton took that you would take off those rose colored glasses. You're ignorant. And what west fan said, the coach didn't take him out. The ref escorted him to the sideline. I'm sure Vass was upset because he thought they had a chance to win at the time.

Im sorry that you're to stupid to understand football. Ironton is clearly the better and more talented team. Their coaching staff not so much. If we had a better staff Burg would be 5 TD underdogs against us. Like I said though you guys kicked our butt. I said that cause it was too. I also said you guys were bush league and thats true.

Burg beat Ironton by a combined 80-23 in their two meetings.....and you think Ironton is "clearly the better and more talented team"?

Whoa....whoa...whoa. Drinking on the job again?

And you have the guts (or stupidity) to say that Jolly P is too stupid to understand football after making that statement?

Laughable. Almost like watching you on the field these days.

tigercannon71 wrote:Oh so now you blame the Ironton player for your coaches decision to go for an onside kick. All he had to do was kick the ball through the uprights. Ironton gets ball back runs a few plays and clock runs out. You're coach was just trying to run the score up. That's why I hope Hartley puts 70 on you guys. Sportmanship like your coaches showed always comes back to haunt you.

LOL its hard to reason with stupidity.... I fully support the coaches on the onside kick.. It was a no brainer.... Because Ironton has no discipline and recived 2 15 yard penaltys and puts the ball on Ironton 30 yard line.... Now it is time to try to work on your game with a onside kick.. Put JV in and bring in your field goal unit for pratice.... Totally different if there were no penaltys ....

Git over the loss and lick your wounds and quit crying..... Rant over

Why Jolly Pirate does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know JP, if I thought you weren't my friend... I just don't think I could bear it!

He may not have targeted the ankle but a hit that late, and it being a horse collar, was only intended to hurt the player. There is no other reason to do what he did. If he had any class he would have just let up after they crossed into the end zone and walked away. He was beat, again, and it ticked him off and he took it out on Howard. You even said it in your statement, "he hit him late and he got hurt". Exactly!! If he doesn't hit him late we still have one of our better running backs in next week game.

No matter how you spin this, it was uncalled for and he should have been ejected.

You know, I have always had a lot of respect for you on here over the years but all of that has went out the window since Saturday. First you try to make it out that it was no big deal that your player intentionally hurt a Burg player and now you actually have the audacity to say that Ironton is 5 TD's better than the Burg with a different coach. You could bring in Nick Saban and the Pirates would still kick Irontons rearend.

This isnt just my opinion I talked to some Burg fans with players in the team. They said same thing I just said. Irontons a better team than Burg, but Burg just out coached them. So its not just me its Burg fans to that understand what happened sat night.
