It sounds as if both teams have emptied the bench.
I'd like to see burg work their run game still. Passing was incredible..

No wimp here. Just the truth.
All while giving the burg HOO-rah's.
No hate here. Ever. Been broken hearted too many times in the state finals.
That makes, me anyway, only respectful & truthful!!!

I think we all know what needs to happen for IHS football!!!
I know. You are the more level head on your side. Keep it real. We all do.
It's from being a student (frosh/1979)during our first state win.
Then having to accept the reality of all those state final losses& just one more win. I learned quickly to accept the humility & having to deal with meeting college sized dudes in the Catholic system, that made us all realize how great we were, but how lucky they were !
I still have tons of pride & will reverse retire back to Ironton from Orlando, in part , out of missing IHS sports so much(& giovannis)! Not to far away... 53 this year. Will be done @ 59!!!

What happened to this back that was going to win the game single-handedly for Ironton?

It's actually a little sad to see such a great program fall so far in so little time. The Tigers used to intimidate other teams just by their reputation alone. You knew playing them you were going to get the ball rammed straight down your throat with the occasional screen thrown in to keep you honest. Big, strong, athletic backs, huge physical lineman, great defense, etc. From the looks of the kids that is still there so why isn't it working now? That intimidation just isn't there anymore, at least not with the Pirates.

The Burg controlled this game from the get go. I believe Ironton opened up the first series with 5 or 6 penalties in a row. Looks like a very long season for the Tigers if they don't get it together quickly. The Pirates on the other hand don't look like they missed a step since last year. Could very well be another deep tourney run out of this team.

Dead serious prediction.
2 months later almost, I guess I was too confident. We only got it to 49-0 w our backups versus starters. Sorry for bad prediction!

Great job Pirates...
No need to beat on the tigers on here.
These young men have to put it together and should not be kicked while they are down.

The Pirates took the Tigers to the wood shed and delivered an old fashioned gridiron whoopin. The Burg is better than the Pirate fans thought they are and the Tigers are nowhere near as good as the Tiger fans thought they are. The Tigers will enter OVC play without a win. A 5-5 season is 50/50 at best. No effort means no heart. I never thought I would ever say that about a Tiger team but it needs to be said.

So much to be said but so little to be done.
Wheelersburg is the cream of the crop in SE Ohio.
Congrads Pirates for a great win.
Ironton needs change period.
They can not block nor pass or run.
They can not tackle or defend the pass.
Play calling can not even be graded from such a performance.
Where and what does Ironton do from here ???????????????????
Who knows who can say.
But the Pirates did early what was needed and it could have been worse than it was.
Congrads pirates on a great win.

I'm at a loss for words. Ironton was confused the entire night. I'm thinking a change needs to happen. Time will tell.

Does this mean there will be no rematch in the playoffs? I don't think I can go a whole year without a 19 page thread.
