Oh I agree . Jackson folks saying they competed with a state championship caliber team. No they didn’t . Ironton is even close to that.
True. At present neither are. Jackson isnt a top 10 d3
And Ironton is ranked 5th in D5
I've watched Ironton week 1 & 2
Also seen Ridgewood.

Rn Ridgewood would run Ironton outta the stadium. Ironton just dont have the fire power to keep their defense off the field. If Ridgewoods offense got that much time w the ball itd get ugly.
Agree 💯. Ironton would get smashed by most teams in Jackson’s region. D3 region 11 is brutal. This ironton team isn’t near what Burg was in 2017.

Well, tbh, I dont think burg was that great in 2017 either. They were ok. Didnt really play anybody though.

You’re off your rocker. That’s burgs best team in their history and beat two teams that year that would beat the pants off of ironton the past two years.

Ehh. I mean if were honest, both were mostly undersized, underskilled small town ohio kids with maybe one or two kids that were elite enough to transcend beyond that. And Ironton boasted the more elite talent by a pretty wide margin to that respect.

C'mon. Its 60 or so mostly undersized, slow, underskilled small town ohio kids w maybe one or two athletes who stand out beyond that. Ironton & Burg. These kinda teams are just limited and outside of southern ohio they are not a lock to beat anyone up state imo

Agree 💯. Tanner Holden by himself made that team better. The defense was off the charts. Ironton is much bigger up front but meh. They’re not anywhere near a D3 region 11 championship caliber team.

And if that assesment was false, both programs would have more championships.

Ironton is huge for a d5 school. They don’t really play up the hype but they have the size for sure. Kirtland just much better at all
phases.

Better culture @ Kirtland. The appalachian kids have a lower quality of life compared to the NE ohio kids. How kids perform is more impacted by this stuff than we probably realize. It is more than just x's & o's in my opinion.

I know where you are coming from but burg that year was extremely talented on both sides of the ball. Their defensive front 6 was one of the best I’ve seen in d5 in what I’ve seen in all my years of watching. Three years ago, ironton was similar to that but I’d put them slightly under burg.

Burg was the better team offensively for sure imo
Ironton can't figure out how to score.

Burg 2017...didn't have to play Kirtland or any MAC school. Otherwise, they wouldn't have won the title. They were VERY lucky in regard to who they had to play in the playoffs that year.

Upset Alert: 🚨 Is FAIRLAND a trap game?!! 👀

Post by Chilli_Dawg_614 »

Ironton comes off two emotional back to back weeks after a dramatic conclusion to their pre season. At home 1 week before Moellar. Is Fairland a trap game?

Could Ironton get shocked at home friday night?

Whats the status for Ironton on qb1? ( Carpenter)
Is #7 healthy?
Duncan looked to be banged up vs Jackson ( late)
Ironton endured a lot more physicality last week. And emotions couldn't have been any higher for Ironton the past few weeks. Offensively Ironton really seemed to be still trying to find themselves.

I don't think Burg would have much luck w Kirtland and Ridgewood has owned them.

Unfortunately…
Truth.

Also true Tingle could carry WLRHS TO FINALS.

Now, can we get back to the pep talk for IHS & FHS upcoming game?

A lot to discuss really considering they haven’t played each other since FHS has stepped up a bit & IHS is trying to establish itself after replacing two D1 recruits.

I was trying to point out the experience they’ve gained over past two years en route to the state finals & staff could tweak the mix of players to restructure the Offense to score, much easier than to date.

@chillidawg , I never implied IHS was to become a spread offense based on speed.
I was saying why not utilize the core skill many of the players gained these past two years via March to the state finals & espy this off season camp & train dedication & go from there?

Season is still anew.

Offensive improvement can be achieved.

There’s some talent on that roster.
