2007 All-County football team announced

Three teams led the way on the 2007 All-Athens County Football squad as Federal Hocking, Nelsonville-York and Trimble landed five spots apiece. The county's other two schools, Alexander and Athens, had three players each on the 21-player squad. This marked the sixth year for the selections.

Top individual honors went to Trimble senior quarterback Isaac Standley who was named as the Offensive Player of the Year and Nelsonville-York senior fullback and linebacker Scott Cunningham who was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year.

There were 10 seniors, 10 juniors and one sophomore. Standley was among three repeaters from last year's squad. The others were Nelsonville-York senior tackle Trevor Polley and Trimble senior running back Scott Bycofski.

Selections from Alexander were junior Greg Croxford, senior Shawn Hudnall and senior Adam McCarty.

Players from Athens selected for the squad were senior Steven Eberts, junior Cameron Tope and senior Tre Wallace.

Federal Hocking was represented on the squad by junior Zach Burke, junior Chaz Cuckler, junior Patrick Day, senior Cory McCune and junior Grant Smith.

Joining Cunningham and Polley on the team from Nelsonville-York were sophomore Derek Arnold, junior Josh Lyon and junior Zach Talbert.

Trimble players selected for the team in addition to Bycofski and Standley were junior Kacey Cruse, junior Joe Eing and senior Charles Faires.

Players selected for the All-County team and their families will be guests at a recognition buffet to be held next Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Oak Room on Station Street in Athens.
