Where do they play at, all I saw was a hill for fans to sit on, is that where they intend to build the stadium, and are they getting lights.

I think they are ready. The program has been brought along slowly by Coach Mantel. You have to get started at the varsity level at some point. Best of luck to the kids from Adams County! Welcome back to "Varsity Football!

I did hear that Logan sold lights and the visiting side bleachers to them. I have also heard that a lot of the people in the community are excited, and want help out with donations and labor.

Cardinal70,
Yeah and he took Wellston from 7-3 and playing in back-to-back playoffs the previouis year under Hinton, who he had coached with at Wellston prior to starting the program at Manchester, as an assistant at Wellston. He led the Golden Rockets to a 0-10 season this year 2007.

Although Wellston lost all there games on the fiels, the Golden Rockets won a game due to the forfiet from N-Y over a student not being academic eligable. So Wellston was 1-9 in 2007. He took a young team that at least had the concept of Hintons offense and defense and changed everything around from a mid-line option to the spread. It killed our kids.

Word was, that Mantell took all the former team pictures and football memories placed by former head coaches in the Golden Rocket Locker-Room down that were placed there by former Wellston Head Coaches, Coach Michaels, Coach Fyffe, Coach Blankenship.

The coach after Blankenship that came from Eastern Meigs who was an assistant at Wahama this season. He was one that led Wellston to a 0-10 season too.

The football memories and records that were placed by Coach Blackstone, Coach Lucas the coach after Lucas, and Coach Hinton. I guess Mantell stated this was the new Wellston Golden Rocket era. Yeah it sure was.

He so far I guess is staying on.

Many Alumni are really surprised with the Wellston AD, and School Board. We all really know why, politics.... :!:

I can't get it on about here, but if you want to PM me, I will be glad to share mine and many other alumni views.

The last TWO 0-10 wonders hit the door after the year was up at Wellston. You just don't come into a program and change everything over-night. Especially, if you were a former assistant there and knew the kids had the former system down pat whom you coached the same program at Wellston as a prior assistant. Change a little but when there is not the talent to automatically take that offense from Mid-Line to the Spread, WHY :?:

Didn't he play his H.S. ball at Wheelersburg :?:

If the season starts out like last year, I see a change before it ends. If not, it could be the destruction of Wellston Football as we know it now
.
