East Hires New Head Coach

Post by Tartanblue »

With it being close to 6 o'clock....it should not be official that Larry Hall will be the next head coach of the East Tartans.

I have been told that at Wheelersburg he liked to pull the linemen and run the ball, and that he also used small quick lines. If I remember right he liked to attack the QB on defense....I would not be suprised if they didn't stay with the offense from last year a little.

It is official; Larry Hall was named the new Head Coach for the Tartan Grid Iron Team as of 5:00 p.m. today!

Coach Hall gave a brief comment on why he chose East and what he enjoyed the most about coaching football. In short; he enjoys coaching young men into good football players and gets great rewards by helping young athletes mold into responsible and productive people!

Coach Hall was giving his first East Tartan Football attire by the school board! He received a East Football cap; he immediately placed the hat on and received a round of applause and approval!

Coach Hall was also approved to be a volunteer at the board meeting! Coach Hall said that he is anxious to start and will be starting tommorrow; checking equipment, talking to players and preparing for this season!

Congratulations Coach Hall!
"Leave No Doubt" Tartans! Bring home the 3rd straight SOC I Championship and a run at State!

I do beleive Randy Duncan will be one of the assistants along with Stacey Bond. Coach Hall I think likes to have 4 or 5 assistants besides himself.

Coach Larry Hall's Wheelersburg Head Coaching Record

{Coach Hall was the Head Coach at Wheelersburg from 1992 - 1998}

1992 - 9-2 = SOC II Champions; Playoff Appearance
1993 - 9-1 = SOC II Champions
1994 - 10-2 = SOC II Champions; Playoff Appearance; Regional Champions
1995 - 8-3 = SOC II Champions; Playoff Appearance
1996 - 9-2 = SOC II Champions; Playoff Appearance
1997 - 8-3 = SOC II Championship; Playoff Appearance
1998 - 11-2 = SOC II Championship; Playoff Appearance; Regional Champions

While the Head Coach at Wheelersburg for 7 years; Coach Hall compiled a record of 64 wins and 15 losses! That's a .810 winning percentage! He also led his teams to the playoffs 6 out of 7 years! That's a .857 or a 86% chance of going to the playoffs each year! Two of those seasons he won the Regional Championship. That's a .285 or a 29% chance of winning the Regionals! And of course, he won the SOC II Title; 7 straight years; 100%!

Coach Hall was an assistant coach with Ed Miller for 14 years before taking over the Head Coaching position from Coach Miller! Coach Hall also coached at Preble Shawnee H.S. from 1970-1973 and had a 17-19-4 record.

Coach Hall's presence on the sidelines can only increase the Tartans success this season and into the playoffs! But, I must say and remind all; Coach Davis definetly left Coach Hall with a great football team!

here is the link to the article the paper did on Hall being hired...http://portsmouth-dailytimes.com/articl ... s_hall.txt

It seems as if Hall has already started his work in being at the school today and even changing the weight room around....My guess is he more than likely met with players today or will meet with players this week at some point.

Just like to add, Larry was the deffense coach under Ed Miller and was great at it.

This a very good hire for the Tartans. Larry will be a very good fit for East.

One thing he likes to do is win SOC Championships. In his 7 years at the Burg he went 28-0 in the SOC. A feat that will more than likely not be matched.

Larry Hall was my Defensive coach at Wheelersburg when I played; we moved around alot on defense. He will be a great coach With Lance Davis their also East should start looking and playing like the Burg. I can see SOC titles at East for a long time.
