Warren High School All-Time Records and Results

Post by swamisez »

Here we go fans, this is the information I have (not having gone to the library to research anything serious yet, just looking at newspapers that I have).

I am hoping you will see this, and if possible be able to add information to it. Check yearbooks, newspapers, old programs, anything. As soon as we get all the records in, we will post all of this to the school's football website. When that is finished, we will begin individual stats, participation, and school records.

We need all the help we can get from anyone. Feel free to PM me if you have any info, or just reply with additions.

Thanks, and Go Warriors.

Great work so far Swami.

It's a tough job, but I'm glad someone is taking it on. You can learn a lot by going through all those old resources. I'd be glad to help anyway I can with Warren's SEOAL era. I have all those game scores somewhere on my computer.

I'll print your list out and see what I can fill out.

yes, that is the original Justin Frye

Logan's Frye had a great career as well, would be interesting to see who rushed for more yards?
It is probably closer than many think.

310 for a game is a lot.

Frye had just under 3000 for his 2 year career I believe, literally over 2990 without going to look.

Justin Frye was a two year starter maybe three, he was inducted into the Warren HOF last weekend. Not sure of his total statistics, if anyone has them. Maybe Rhodes has them, would venture a guess that he eclipsed the 2500 yard mark.

Again, these are the things that will ultimately fall at my feet to find.

Uh no offense, but this is SE Ohio not Dade County. There are no successful D1 players to come out of here.
A kicker and long snapper are the exceptions to this rule.

The numbers of players who play division 1 football locally are small enough to count on one hand.

There have been numerous players to play at WVIAC schools, and division 3 programs.

I've got all of the films for the 96 & 97 seasons and I'm currently working on converting them from VHS to Digital. Once complete I'll post them online for all to see. There were a lot of big numbers put up during those to years, passing (96) and rushing (97). The 1996 team that went 9-1 had to be one of the most talented to come through Warren in a very long time. We were so deep that most of the players only went one way (most of the time). Anyway, there will be some stats that come out of those two seasons that will either be records or will at least be close. If you want, contact me and we can talk more about what I have.

Adding a few scores to the 96 season. I have articles for every score listed below. I'll need to pull out the old films for the River Valley score.

8/30 A Point Pleasant W 40-29
9/6 A Fort Frye W 39-19
9/13 H Parkersburg South W 68-50
9/20 H Gallia W 36-32
9/27 A Logan W 32-31
10/4 H Belpre W 49-28
10/11 A Jackson L 64-42
10/18 H River Valley W
10/25 H Athens W 42-15
11/1 A Marietta W 47-7
