I would like to see a 56-16 game score. Get a final tuning in before we take on the big dogs...not the bulldogs.

DOC KRONER TROPHY GAME

When the Kroner Trophy is on the line anything is possible...

Athens is coming off a heartbreaker of a loss as they could have beat Wellston to put a wrinkle into the TVC Champ race...however, Wellston prevailed and now Athens has only two things left to play for....(a) PRIDE, (b) THE DOC KRONER TROPHY...

Ryan Adams will have his DOGS up and at 'em for this one as Athens has not beat NY since they beat them back-2-back from '02-'03 during the Hewitt/Gregory/Champlin era...

NY is coming off a blowout of Alexander and may be lookin' past Athens in this one as they see the TVC Championship right around the corner...

However, with the Doc Kroner Trophy on the line, Coach Boston will have his BUCKS up and ready for this one...

"Kroner Week"
Can't Wait For This Game

Good Luck II Both Teams

The Arnold kid looked good in the Gridiron Glory highlights tonight. And he seems like a real humble kid too.

Horsemen...I love those kind of kids. We don't see nearly enough of them in this day and age of the Terrell Owens, Ocho Stinko, Randy Moss type of players.

Teams from Athens and Nelsonville have played each other in high school sports since the beginning of organized high school sports. This one goes back to the days of the Greyhounds and the old red and black Bulldogs. Greyhounds vs. Bulldogs was the Athens County City Rivalry. Yearly rivals for the Greyhounds included the SEOAL league schools as well as The Plains Indians and Chauncey-Dover Blue Devils. All schools consolidated in the fall of 1967 and the NY Buckeyes and current Athens Bulldogs based in The Plains were formed. These two have played each other every year except the period between 1970-1982. Here is a breakdown of the series since the days of consolidation:

NY leads all-time series 17 wins, 11 losses
1967 Athens (H) 32-22
1968 Athens (A) 38-6
1969 Athens (H) 44-8
1983 Nelsonville-York (H) 12-8
1984 Nelsonville-York (A) 20-7
1985 Athens (H) 22-6
1986 Athens (A) 12-6 (3 OT)
1987 Athens (H) 7-0
1988 Athens (A) 34-20
1989 Athens (H) 30-12
1990 Athens (A) 25-6
1991 Nelsonville-York (H) 27-8
1992 Nelsonville-York (A) 35-0
1993 Nelsonville-York (H) 38-0
1994 Nelsonville-York (A) 28-0
1995 Nelsonville-York (H) 22-15
1996 Nelsonville-York (A) 31-9
1997 Nelsonville-York (H) 48-7
1998 Nelsonville-York (A) 21-20
1999 Nelsonville-York (H) 35-17
2000 Nelsonville-York (A) 17-14
2001 Nelsonville-York (H) 22-7
2002 Athens (A) 35-20
2003 Athens (H) 35-6
2004 Nelsonville-York (A) 20-0
2005 Nelsonville-York (H) 39-21
2006 Nelsonville-York (A) 56-16
2007 Nelsonville-York (H) 22-8

Random stats:

This will be the 29th contest between the Bulldogs and Buckeyes since consolidation. The two schools played each other in the neighborhood of 50-60 times before consolidation.

Athens went 3-0 in league play vs. the Buckeyes after consolidation and before the Buckeyes left the SEOAL. Therefore, this will be the first time a team from Nelsonville is looking for a league win against rival Athens since the days of the Greyhounds.

The non-league contest lasted for 25 seasons (1983-2007). NY went 17-8 during that time period. This game was played as the opening week game in 23 of those 25 years. In '87 and '88, this game was played during Week 10.

NY is 15-2 versus Athens in the last 17 years.

For the first time since 1969, the two Athens County City School Districts are battling it out in a league rivalry game.

I dont see how they could possible look past what IS the championship game. With the way Vinton has played this season And Ironton is non league I am afraid that all the chips are in on the NY Athens game.

The Buckeyes know they win this one and they own at the least a piece of another TVC Ohio Championship.... This is the Biggest game of their season.. this is the TVC Ohio Championship game for NY....

Good luck to the Buckeyes! Athens is a very good team and they need to play hard the entire game....

In MY opinion the Buckeyes played a little flat against The Team Over There. I also believe that the Dogs are a much improved team. I hope that we step it up and play with the intensity that we had against Belpre.

Thanks Logan Grad...................... Good to hear from you again :!:

and I see your Chiefs are continuing to kick-butts and take-names ;-)

NY BUX-

I agree with you, the Buckeyes were definately flat last night (they still put up 40 points but they will need more emotional intensity against the Bulldogs)
