coal grove vs. ironton

Why doesn't Coal Grove play Ironton? Would this make too much sense?

CORRECTION: The first of the last two times Ironton and Coal Grove played in the regular season was the season after we graduated a class of 17 or 18 seniors. I was one of them. We were very competitive (very) until the 99 season. Our senior class of '98 would have went toe-to-toe... nobody's going to tell me different. Our class of '98 was pretty good too.

Nobody thought the class of 2000 was loaded. None that I know of.

I'm not an Ironton hater or anything, but you can't deny that teams like Coal Grove and South Point are a lot closer to being able to compete with Ironton than they have traditionally. Rock Hill gave Ironton all they wanted in '05.
Why don't you do some research of those two seasons and actually look at the records and tell me that anyone thought CG was "loaded".
Do you mean to tell me that when everyone was raising Cain about how terrible Tripplett was and then the year after that when they didn't even make the playoffs that no one in the OVC could have given them a good game? Rock Hill actually made it into the playoffs over Ironton - after losing to Coal Grove and South Point! They didn't even get a share of the OVC....
Give or take 5-10 years, Ironton will be at or near the same level of play as the good OVC teams.... if they aren't already.

NO No No fuzz sorry you are wrong. In 05 Ironton toyed with Rock Hill watch the game tapes and you will see. Ironton ran 4 plays all night and maybe ran out of the pro I 3 times. Other than that Ironton ran a basic offense never deviating from the 50 series.

The OVC schools cant and wont ever be able to compete with the Tigers.

Fuzz just to point out yes Rock Hill did make it last year and Ironton didn't but....

Ironton didnt get it done with the sked they had.
Rock hill did squeak in at 8th.

Ironton's sked and Rock Hills cant compare period.
They played mostly D5 schools as a D4,Ironton played up and got beat.

I'm not making excuses we didnt win the games to get us there.

I love the tigers but they are not what they use to be. This years team is big but not very fast or deep. Ironton would've had a hard time with the dragons last year barring injuries. The tigers should get out of the SEOAL and join the OVC or SOC.

Sp also was not very good those 2 years and that was then this is now. Ironton would still dominate but not every year also I think it would be better for them as far as crowds go.

LOLOLOLOLOL........you have just showed your football knowledge. Yeah, Lutz toyed with RH so that he would go into halftime tied up and give RH an onside kick to start the second half. You speak so much BS it isn't even funny...EXCUSES. Ironton isn't what it used to be..........

Again, no offense to TigerTown (unlike most CG fans I'm not mad at Ironton just because their football program is everything we ever wanted to be).
I personally think we're already starting to see big improvements in the talent levels of the OVC teams, especially SP in the past few years and the gap is closing. I can't help wonder: what happens after Lutz? We saw how fans reacted when someone else took the reigns for such a short time. They've been beaten back-to-back years by Burg and they aren't their record in the SEOAL since they re-joined just isn't what it used to be.

I WATCH IRONTON PLAY AND I WATCH CG PLAY. (WHO EVER IS AT HOME)
THE DIFFERENCE I SEE IS THE SPEED OF THE GAME. IRONTON PLAYS A MUCH TOUGHER SCHEDULE IT JUST WOULDNT BE FAIR. IF SO WHY NOT SCRIMMAGE ANYMORE.........

the future of ironton lies in the hands of the JR high coaches which are fielding great teams right now.

(coaches in training) to continue the lutz era!!!!! with modern playmakers!!!!!!

I am never sure why people think when they have some success in the OVC that they could beat Ironton. Ironton is 30-3 all-time vs. OVC schools and those losses were in 1944, 1962, & 1966. Here's a rundown of the OVC schools vs. Ironton:

Rock Hill
Ironton leads series 3-0
Years Winner Score
1995 Ironton (N) 21 0
2003 Ironton (H) 48 7
2005 Ironton (H) 28 14

Coal Grove - Dawson Bryant
Ironton leads series 4-0
Years Winner Score
1930 Ironton (H) 13 0
1987 Ironton (H) 38 16
2000 Ironton (H) 51 0
2001 Ironton (A) 49 0

South Point
Ironton leads series 18-3
Years Winner Score
1944 South Point (forfeit) 1 0
1945 Ironton (H) 34 0
1960 Ironton (H) 27 14
1961 Ironton (H) 15 6
1962 South Point (A) 12 6
1966 South Point (H) 20 8
1967 Ironton (H) 48 6
1967 Ironton (A) 25 0
1974 Ironton (H) 26 0
1975 Ironton (A) 8 0
1991 Ironton (N) 50 6
1994 Ironton (A) 43 7
1995 Ironton (H) 30 8
1998 Ironton (A) 28 0
1999 Ironton (H) 71 6
2000 Ironton (A) 49 8
2001 Ironton (H) 60 0
2002 Ironton (A) 54 7
2003 Ironton (H) 60 0
2004 Ironton (A) 56 6
2005 Ironton (H) 62 7

Fairland
Ironton leads series 1-0
Years Winner Score
1993 Ironton (N) 28 6

Chesapeake
Ironton leads series 2-0
Years Winner Score
1930 Ironton (H) 20 0
1934 Ironton (H) 19 0

River Valley
Ironton leads series 2-0

I couldn't tell you why they don't scrimmage.

What happens after Lutz? Why isn't Ironton as dominant against the SEOAL as they used to be?

Not trying to be a jerk, but those are questions I know Tiger Fans have trouble with.

33 games against OVC school and 20 of them at Tank, why doesn't Ironton agree to play more OVC schools at their house instead of the comforts of Tank.
