I'll second that kudo because Willamstown is essentially a suburb of Marietta.

Believe me; Athens doesn't want to play them.

I am not so sure, 4.0.

From this past season:

Week Seven: Williamstown 46, Wahama 13
Week Eight: Athens 20, Wahama 0

... and that Athens performance comes after Williamstown softened them up the previous week.

Talk is cheap! I know that Willaimstown would beat Athens and the Athens fans know that.

Just because you are an Ohio team, doesn't mean you are worth a crap.

Athens left the SEOAL b/c they were sick of getting smashed in football!

Let's see how the great Athens Bulldogs did

Athens 2008
8/22 H Gallia Academy (5-5) [4:15] L 22-31
8/29 H Federal Hocking (7-3) [5:19] L 0-16
9/5 A Bloom-Carroll (3-7) [4:15] L 13-27
9/12 A Meigs (8-2) [4:15] L 13-26
9/19 H Vinton County (1-9) [3:12] W 25-17
9/26 A Alexander (4-6) [4:15] W 34-6
10/3 H Wellston (4-6) [4:15] L 21-34
10/10 A Nelsonville-York (8-2) [5:19] L 14-22
10/17 A Belpre (3-7) [5:19] W 33-18
10/24 H Wahama (WV) (6-2) [6:0] W 20-0

Beat a 1-9 Vinton County team (enough said)
Beat a 4-6 Alexander who is D IV
Beat a 3-7 Belpre team who is D V
Beat an average Wahama team.

Whatever!

We have and we are talking and trying to work something out. All I was saying was I would love to. Imagine the gate and atmosphere. Don't get defensive.

This post is what brought out my 'defensiveness'.

If you have watched my posts over the years, you know I am not one of those Ohio always wins people. I just think it would be a great game for the area and hope it can be worked out.

PM me and I will give you more details.

I have nothing at all to do with Williamstown besides the fact that my father-in-law played football and wrestled there in the 1970s. I would like to see the game happen as well. I just don't think enough people give Williamstown the respect they deserve. They won like 60 consecutive regular season games here recently. I don't know who broke their streak, but it was an impressive streak.

Belpre would love to get them back on the schedule. The next game is on our field since we beat them 14-7 at their place!

Congrats to coach Smith and the Yellowjackets on the state title. It was a long time coming so enjoy it.

Congrats to Willytown on a well deserved championship.

As far as Athens is concerned, I have watched them play football for the past 6 years and work with some W-Town coaches. Athens is not ready for that kind of football yet.

As a graduate of Marietta High School....MHS has NO business scheduling a game with a Single A WV team, no matter how good the program is. Should never have played St Mary's years ago either.
