Derek Roback - QB Waverly

He's a pure athlete. He has speed and size. Roback has been offered by Marshall, Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Toledo, and OU, according to rivals.com.

If the rumors are true about him coming to South Gallia, then I'd have to go with Pat "Chase" O'Houlihan for the Rebels.

Do you mean dodgeball legend "Patches" O'Houlihan?
And he's from Lodi, not Youngstown.

Sorry
Angle is not a better player than Roback.
Put Roback on Logan's team and his stats would be out of this world

Derek Roback evaluation from ESPN's college football recruiting website:

Roback is a big and physical quarterback. His size is intimidating for the competition and is a notch faster than most of the athletes on the field. Displays a strong arm and can complete passes to all zones. Throws well when off balance and getting pressure. Puts a lot of zip on the football when sprinting out to either side. Can drop the football over top defenders to make the completion. A productive runner once he puts the ball away. Eludes rushers due to his instincts and competitiveness along with excellent agility for a quarterback. Runs the ball like a fast fullback; powerful but has elusiveness when in space. Can hit a second gear when in traffic. Not afraid to play it physical with the defense. Blocks for other teammates and will lay the wood on the defender. Shows same toughness, athleticism and solid speed as a return specialist. Doubles as a defensive back and can run ball carriers and receivers down. Not afraid to unload on the opponent and brings his legs on contact. Roback will be a very solid quarterback at the next level in a program that is a good match with his abilities. He is one of those quarterbacks that should continually mature

I would have to say there are 5 outstanding players coming from Southern,Ohio this year out of the class of 2010. IMO, they are Pat Angle, Derek Roeback, Drew Basil, Shay Netter and Southworth. All of them are great athletes!! They all bring something different to the table. To say anyone of them are better than the other is impossible to do. All 5 are representing this part of Ohio well!! IMO, they all are D-1
bound. All of us should be proud of these young men and not try decide which is better then the other. I would like to wish them all well and to have a great and injury free season!! I can't believe they'll all be seniors!! This is the most talented class of young men from Southern,Ohio that we've had all at one time!! "Good Luck" to all of them!!!!

Arnold from NY should be included in this to. I would like to see the Defense that can stop him.

If you are a college scout or a devout, unattached observer and have seen all the mentioned players, then maybe you can make this call.....I can't. The only one I have seen is Angle and he is pretty good. He also plays on a pretty good team.

In the Seops area I would have to say Patrick Angle, in my county, scioto, I would have to say Trevon Pendleton (and I say that with no bias)

most have not seen him play because of a knee injury last season against Ironton but i will have to go with -------------- #10 Tyler Lang of Wheelersburg-- now that he has made a full recovery and also # 8 Trevor Pendleton from that team to the west ---this young man is a man----

Ask Roback about Tyler Craigmiles from wheelersburg he was shut down to one side by him and after the 1 st quarter Roback didnt want any more from #22 Craigmiles might be the fastest player i have seen in a good while playing on Ed Miller Stadium just needs to mature a bit as a team player (maybe needs to be a little more football savy) and understand his role ------- but definately a player to watch this year.

I agree. Roback took some pretty good licks from the Minford team last year too. Roback looked like a highlight reel in his first few games last year, but then he met the teeth of a few tough SOCII defenses and they shut him down. Still not buying into the hype until I see him dominate a southern Ohio defense the way a DI prospect should. Not saying he cant, but I havent seen it yet.

I would also have to go with Pendleton and throw in Oesch from Minford as well as Angle.

If he can't get his eligibility worked out across the Ohio River, it might end up being Allan Wasonga.
