I think a convincing win over Bloom Carroll gives the Athens team some validity, that being said Meigs is a quality opponent and will battle the Dogs tough I'll take Athens in a barn burner 35-33.

meigs has lost 2 close games to quality teams and won 1 to one that was not. the jury is still out but i will take meigs.

I am not for sure at all on this game. I definately hope that Meigs wins but with some of the things I have witnessed in the first two games I'm nervous about playing Athens. The defense will need to make at least a couple stops and the offense can't continue to turn the ball over at crucial times in the game. All in all I hope it is a well played game with no injuries. Athens is in a no win situation, if you beat a team it's because our school is bigger than theirs if we lose it's because there is no heart or tradition around here. What a bunch of bunk. I truely don't think other people in the area understand the impact that other fall sports being offered at Athens has on the football team. We may have more boys eligible to play football but many kids opt for other sports for various reasons. Look at the roster numbers we get, heck D5 Nelsonville-York nearly always has as many and in most cases more kids out for football than we do.

I agree with A-Town, no matter what the sport, Athens will get the "they should win they are a bigger school." It is just an excuse. If that's the case, why didn't we go 10-0 last year? And why have we been beaten by smaller schools the last several years? This is our year, give our kids some credit. They have worked hard just like all the other schools in the TVC.

This is a great match up the key to the game is Meigs oline vs the Athens dline who ever dominates the line of scrimmage when Meigs has the ball Athens will have to Pressure Jacob Well if they give him time he will carve the bulldogs secondary up but he don't have time n the pocket Athens will win .... I like Athens I feel there good enough on the defensive line

What other fall sports does Athens play that most other TVC schools don't play, other than Soccer? That's the only one I can think of. And Alexander and Belpre even field teams for that one.

We all have golf.
We all have cross country.
We all have football.


All that's left is soccer and 3 of the 7 have that. Boys tennis? Is that a fall sport? Are there dozens of boys on the tennis team at Athens?

I don't see where boys at Athens are being pulled away to other sports any more so than boys are pulled away from the same sports at all the other league schools.

you'd be surprised with some of the kids on the soccer team who could easily play football and contribute,there are definitely some kids who can fly on that team.

Back to the game gentlemen. It is a favorite topic of detractors. Been walking the halls at Athens a long time. We have a very large population who do not participate in anything, which is probably a good thing.

Go Bulldogs and I say Go Buckeyes - I think we all want those two clubs to meet up undefeated. Wont be easy though.
