Re: SEOAL Sports Trophy-2010
Maybe the dumb question of the decade her but here goes anyway.
How can an all sports trophy be awarded when not every school has all the same sports? It is not fair for those who do, to not have them count, but it is equally as unfair for those schools that do not have certain sport(s) to penalize them for this. Many reasons why or why not to have all these sports: no interest, no funding, etc. Just curious???

Re: SEOAL Sports Trophy-2010
Tom Meters could answer that question. I think you have to have so many teams participate in a sport before it counts in the all-sports race.

I agree it would be a lot harder for some of the smaller schools to field all the sports. I always thought they should do and average to see who wins. I do see how the schools that field more sports would be against this. For example if you play soccer and football some of your best athletes may play soccer, which would hurt your football. There really doesn't seem to be a good solution.
Re: SEOAL Sports Trophy-2010
With Warren being a division II they might make that choice themselves-(now)
Being a smaller school at one time had the answer but what is the reason now?
Last year Zanesville didn't have a wrestling team at a div II
At one time for the sport to count so many teams had to play that sport.
Like now Logan has Girls golf and noway is it a league sport. I even think when Athens was in the league they had hockey.

Soccer is completed. I don't know the final standings though. Chilly wins boys with Marietta second. I think the girls finished as follows: Marietta, Chilly, Logan, Jackson, Warren. That's not official however.

Quite the fall for Marietta. Even with football being HURT this year they have a nice cushion going into winter. Can anyone challenge them after this??

Re: SEOAL Sports Trophy-2010
Warren and Chilly have the depth in winter and spring sports (bball, wrestling, baseball, softball, track) to make this competitive again by the end of spring. However, Marietta will certainly have competitive teams here also, it will be an uphill battle. If Marietta could get football going they would simply dominate the SEOAL top to bottom. They are at the top of the all sports trophy every year along with Warren.

Re: SEOAL Sports Trophy-2010
This is also an indication in my opinion why Warren and Marietta stuggle against the SEOAL football competition most years. Their talent is spread across a variety of sports. Espicially when you have succesful programs in a variety of sports. Kids find their sport at a young age and stick to it. At Logan and Ironton football is a way of life for young boys and the majority of the most talented athletes in the school will flock to that succesful program in football. Wheelersburg is the epitome of a great overall sports program. Top to bottom they have a variety of well balanced-succesful sports programs.
