SEOAL Championship (7-1, 4-1) Jackson @ (8-0, 4-0) Logan

Post by ironman02 »

Week 9 - Logan Chieftain Stadium - SEOAL title on the line.

In Week 8, Jackson rebounded from its first loss of the season with a dominant defensive performance against Chillicothe, winning 20-0. Logan pulled away in the second half against a much improved Warren team to win 31-15. Now the two teams will collide in what can be billed as an SEOAL Championship Game since this will be Jackson's last league contest, and the Ironmen could claim at least a share of the SEOAL title with a victory. Jackson is the last team to defeat Logan in an SEOAL game all the way back in 2004. Can the underdog Ironmen end that winning streak and claim a piece of the league title, or will favorite Logan remain unbeaten and continue its march to yet another outright SEOAL championship?

Here are the season results for both Logan and Jackson...

Logan 2009 Season Results Through Week 8

8 Wins - 0 Losses

at Lancaster, W 33-14
Pickerington North, W 24-21
at Hamilton Township, W 49-7
at Gallia Academy, W 57-6
at Ironton, W 21-7
Zanesville, W 26-0
Marietta, W 48-3
at Warren, W 31-15

Jackson 2009 Season Results Through Week 8

7 Wins - 1 Loss

Wellston, W 21-7
Waverly, W 33-25
at Vinton County, W 42-16
at Portsmouth, W 27-26
Gallia Academy, W 28-16
Marietta, W 35-21
Ironton, L 7-28
at Chillicothe, W 20-0

Thoughts on this matchup?

A very unimpressive win by Logan tonight, but they'll take Jackson to the cleaners.

Logan was up 31-7 when the starting defense came out of the game.

If that is unimpressive, I'll take it every time out.

Should be a great match-up on Friday night. The two SEOAL heavyweights come into the game with outstanding records and playoff births and seedings at stake.

Not to mention a share of the SEOAL title on the line.

Logan has won 32 straight SEOAL games. The last team to beat them? Jackson in 2004 on the Hilltop.

The two teams didn't play in 2006 or 2007, and the 2005 game was a classic with Logan winning 14-7 at Alumni Stadium.

This is Jackson's first trip to Logan Chieftain Stadium. I'm hoping for a big crowd on both sides for Homecoming.

Isn't Logan coming up on the record for most consecutive SEOAL wins? I can't remember the exact number, but I know they have to be getting close.

I'm sure if they win the next two they tie the record

I'm sure that Fuzz is sorry for suggesting that anything less that "impressive" applies to the Chieftains.

I don't believe they did. Not on the defense side. I'm not sure that they even pulled the offense out until the last drive or two?

Looking forward to this game! I'm sure it will be a packed house on both sides! They way the offense has been playing..seems like they are hit and miss every other week. I look for them to rebound and come out strong against the Ironmen. I'll say Chiefs by 2 TD's in a hard fought battle! GO CHIEFS!

The starting "D" went back in after Warren cut the game to two scores. That's when Mays made the last interception.

The 2nd team offense came in after Mays interception.

Time to move onto Jackson.

im hoping logan will bring there "A+" game, and put it to jackson.
From the way it sounds, if they play like they did against warren, it could be a 10 point game.
if they play like they can, they can win by 30+.
If they play worse than what they did against warren, they can get their first L

We're you there? Didn't think so. I'd take 15 such unimpressive wins this season.

Warren is not competitive on a DII level. They do alright playing down. So unless Logan was toying with them (and they may have been), I have to say: unimpressive.
Portsmouth beat Warren by two scores, as well, if I'm not mistaken.

But it's just amazing how you folks sit there and prey on a single sentence. The topic is Jackson/Logan. Feel free to discuss.

I saw on tape Marietta put up almost 300yds thru the air and missed several wide open receivers. If Marietta can do that against Jackson I would think Jackson would be really concerned going up against Logan and their passing attack. Logan could win easily unless Jackson gets better there fast.

wizard -

The key for Jackson will be getting quick pressure on Angle and playing with discipline in the secondary.

Logan's tackles get better as the game goes along, so it will be important for Jackson to get after Angle early.

Logan's defense needs to play with passion and intensity - which they have done all year - to keep the offense in good field position.

You gotta have great D-ends to stop Angle!!

I think this game will be very close in the first half but Logan pulls away in the 3rd quarter!

Good luck to both teams!!!!! :122245
