Week 5: Marietta (2-2) AT Logan (0-4)

Post by loganlocos »

Logan is coming off their first SEOAL loss since 2004 and are 0-4 to start the season for the first time since 1990. They have also allowed over 40 points in back to back wees for the first time since 1981.

Logan MUST find some answers on defense or it will continue to be a long season. I still believe that NO team is going to go unbeaten in league play, but Logan hasn't shown that they can win with ANY consistency.

Marietta has surprised the oddsmakers and look to contend despite a set back with Gallipolis last week. The Tigers will bring a strong running game to Logan Chieftain Stadium.

Let's hear it!

I think the Chiefs will get on track this week. They had some bright spots offensively against Jackson and I think they'll be fine on that side of the football in SEOAL play. It seems to me that McCarty will do a nice job filling in for Graham and the Chiefs have several other skill players that are certainly good athletes. As Locos said, though, Logan needs to answer some questions on the defensive side of the ball. I think they'll begin to do that this week against the Tigers. I'm taking the Chiefs by a couple TDs.

Marietta's run game is excellent, I expect a close game with lots of points.

Can't really predict this game... Logan has kind of dissapointed me this year, but hey, atleast they bring in the crowds, makes my day seeing all those cars come to town... lol Hey M***, you want to tailgate this week? I'm not traveling to watch NY, so I'm looking for a good close to home game to watch...

buckeye -

Not sure what you are watching, Logan's crowd was PATHETIC on Friday, fair or no fair. Our kids deserve better. I was very disappointed.

As for this week, I think D&C raised a great point.

This years upperclassmen have never been asked to perform on Friday nights. And because of that, maybe they didn't learn what kind of WORK it takes to excel the way the program has for over a decade? We have only a couple of kids who were contributors on last year's team.

This is not to say the kids DON'T work hard, but there are different levels of hard work. You have to be PUSHED to perform at your highest level, and our previous teams have learned how to PUSH themselves.

I know the talent is there, and while certainly a coaching change brings challenges, I don't think its all coaching either.

These seniors have to rally yet again if Logan is going to get on track.

I think this is the week. Logan gets a W. Hey Locos, you would know, I recall seeing somewhere that Marietta has never won against Logan in a game played in Hocking Co.?

In 1990, when Logan lost their first 5 games, they had a new head coach ... Dale Amyx

gahs4ever wrote:Actually this should be a short game if Logan runs as much as Marietta does. We were done at 9:45 last Friday.

There were 103 total plays from scrimmage in our game with them:

GA- 44 rushes, 10 passes
Mar- 38 rushes, 11 passes

Logan has run 135 times and thrown 102 - so the Chiefs have thrown the football around quite a bit. Scoring always slows the game down. Could be a long one.

D&C -

Marietta won in Logan back in 1951.

However, since joining the SEOAL in 1985 the Tigers have only beaten Logan 3 times and all 3 games were in Marietta.

could be a good game maybe logan turns the light switch on and turns it around. From here on out you might see less fans in the stands. The fans at logan are spoiled because last year they expected logan to just kill every opponent and at the end of the regular season less people came because they knew more than likely it was going to be a blowout now logan isn't as good and less fans are gonna be at the game.
