Minford Falcons 2011

Post by vladimir »

Well Minford will have one of the most experienced O and D lines coming into the 2011 season. There will be some big shoes to fill at the skill positions, but I think they have the kids to fill them. This is what I see coming up:

TE: ?
OT: Colbie Griffith, Senior 6'3 245
G: Erik Gambill, Senior, 6'1 190. Athletic enough to play TE. Started 12 games at OG 2010
C:Seth Hall 6' 270, Senior did not play in 2010 due to injury was a projected starter for '10.
OL: Kendall Dyer 6'1 225, Jr. Started Center first 6 games
G: ?
OT: Justin Lansing 6'2 275, Senior,
OL: Jerrod McCray, 6'4 265, Soph started C last 4 games and 2 playoff games as a Freshman.
WR: Kyle "Chip" Snyder, Senior
TB: ?
WB: ?
FB: Tyler Gaines, Senior played WB in 2010
QB: ?

Defense:
DE: Colbie Griffith Senior, All district DT in 2010
DT: Justin Lansing Senior, Kendall Dyer, Jr.
NG: ?
DT: Seth Hall, Senior; Jerrod McCray, Soph
DE: Erik Gambill, Senior
LB:?
LB: Tyler Gaines, Senior, all district defensive POY 2009, 2010
LB: ?
FS: Zach Ferrar, Jr., started 2 games in 2010
CB: Kyle "Chip" Snyder, Senior
CB: ?

There are many that have the talent to fill the shoes I've put in ?, but as always it's going to come down to who gets the grades to play first, and then who is the first to show up and last to leave the weight room this winter and spring.

Minford will be fine just need a few to RBs to step up. As far as QB, I can think of 4 kids that will be trying to land the job. This group will have massive Offensive & Defensive lines with 2 all district players coming back and also the experience after 1-year of being together. With Senior C/DT Seth Hall (6' 270) who was projected to start in 2010 coming back, the O-& D-Lines will be even better.

The only team to beat this group in 8th grade was Valley and that game was a nailbiter. The West game was close and West beat this group as Freshman, but all the other SOC teams were blown out. The Minford at W'burg game when these two were in 8th grade was 32-0 Minford, and Minford won big at Minford in the freshman game, so hopefully the histroy between these two classes will continue.

IMO, the 2011 SOCII will be between: Minford, Valley and West as it was when they were in Jr. high and as Freshman.
