New SOC/OVC League

With the OVC going down to five schools in the next few years, I thought what would a merger with the SOC look like, now to do this I also went on the thought that Ironton and Portsmouth would want to get in on this seeing that the conference travel would not be bad at all,,,I did add one more school just because the travel to get there isn't that bad and I feel they could use being in a conference and that is Manchester. So here is how my divisions inside what I call the SOVC would look like( Also, I bases my divisions purely on football enrollment, so before people go and tear them apart that is why some schools are in higher divisions than others, don't blame me, it is just the numbers).

I wouldn't want to bring anyone else in, but I know that Ironton and Portsmouth would want to be in a conference that is a lot closer to them as far as travel times go, but if they didn't want to join then I have no problem just having the OVC and SOC schools with no other expansion.

John Why would you put Ironton in the other division with the smaller schools?
I would flip Coal Grove and Ironton.

I like it, but I'd put Rock Hill or South Point into the small schools instead of Coal Grove

Minford(169) is closer to Coalgrove (161). South Point and Rock Hill are close to 200boys

Why not do it like the OVAC and put all 50 schools into one NEW conference. Then divide them into 5 divisions based on enrollment. Use the OVAC's point system for determiing champions, etc., and oh, wait a second, that conference got too big for itself and now it goes from Morgantown to Parkersburg South to Zanesville Rosecrans to Beaver Local.

Interesting thought but I doubt Ironton would want in. o me, they have proven that they want to be independent. If they are good in whatever sport we are talking about (Football, or basketball), they enjoy the freedom of being able to schedule up and prepare for bigger and better things. If they have a couple down seasons and fail to win a title, they will want out as well because that aren't winning. I certainly understand their sentiments and it is nice to be able to freely schedule based on your teams strengths or weaknesses in a given year. For most schools it presents to many problems to be worth it but for them, they obviously would prefer the benefits more than they fear the draw backs.

Portsmouth...maybe...IF the SEOAL goes away which I do no see happenning.

Dont like it for Valley, because anytime they would win the division, it would be because they "dont play anyone" keep Valley with the big boys, they are competing just fine.

dont like it, what i would like, is in football, basketball, and baseball..you could have an soc/ovc challenge like the big 10/acc does in college basketball.........but i hate the merger stuff.....ironton and portsmouth to the OVC!!!!!!

Would be competitive leagues for sure. Most teams could play other divisional opponents and have a tough non-conference schedule with minimal travel cotst. Could see as many as 7-8 teams in the playoffs in any given year.

With all of these team Portsmouth and Ironton could be Ind. and play a bunch of these teams every year.

You're assuming that Waverly would want to travel to Rock Hill, South Point, Coal Grove, or Fairland on a regular basis in all sports? I doubt they would be interested.

Waverly needs to get in SVC. Much better fit for them.

Would love to see SVC add Waverly, Greenfield, Vinton County, and Chillicothe and go to two six team divisions.
