PICKERINGTON NORTH at LOGAN : Week 2 - Hall of Fame Game

Post by loganlocos »

Pickerington North (1-0) dominated defending D3 state champion Bishop Watterson 38-3. The Panthers ran for 185 yards on 37 carries and threw for 115 yards on 10 attempts. The North defense was dominate holding the Eagles to only 3 points.

Logan looks to rebound from a 35-13 loss to Lancaster that saw the Chiefs gain 308 yards on offense but the Gales answered with 421 yards - all on the ground - to beat the purple and white.

It will be Hall of Fame night at "The Chief" with Pickerington North looking for their first ever win at Logan.

I would guess Watterson might be a little down this year after having such a great year but still an impressive victory non the less,,as for the game yow, just hope the offense can keep the defense off the field as much as possible because they were worn down like an old rag the other night, but with so many two way players it might not matter anyway, not going to predict a score lets just hope for a miracle,,,,Go Logan

Pick North runs away with it. Give Logan credit for playing the toughest non-league schedule in SE Ohio - three OCC opponents, Jonathan Alder and Nelsonville-York.

I think that this will be a tough game for the chiefs, but if they can put together FOUR great quarters of football they will a very good shot at beating Pickerington North. I say Logan wins a very close game 21-20 for all new new hall of fame members.

This is the best North team since the school opened after the split from Pickerington Central a few years ago. I predict North by 4 td's.

I'd hope the Chiefs can win but if not, at least put up a good fight.

No, Central is still too good for them. Moeller just beat Central 14-0 saturday night and I was surprised Pickerington didn't score but they should have no problem the rest of the year against central ohio teams until they play Hilliard Davidson.

Football friday night said Central has 7 Div 1 recruits so they are loaded, but they have a another toughie this weekend against St. Xavier in the Herbstreit classic so that could be another loss for them, but they should be well prepared for the central Ohio teams....

Pick North is going to be too much for logan Lancaster put up over 400 yards rushing on logan North is probably bigger plus they probably have a passing game as well. If logan can control the clock and have long drive and come away with points everytime then they can win but I dont see it happening 30-7

The scary thing is if the Lancaster QB had any kind of arm they might have had 2 or 3 more tds, they had recievers with nobody around them deep in Logans secondary in the second half.Logan has big problems on defense again this year

Lining up too close to the line.
Logan does have some speed in the DBs but it isn't catch up speed.

I'm not sure I agree. Or at least, you can't make any conclusions based on that game in regards to any sort of pass defense.

The reality is that Logan was committing 10 or 11 players to run defense..... and I think the Lancaster QB showed why. Lancaster is NOT going to beat you throwing the ball, so let them throw. Logan had seen on film what kind of quarterback (and "receivers") Lancaster had. Logan was looking to defend the pass at all, so receivers WERE running open.

The reality is that NO high school DBs are really good enough to cover for any length of time. Good high school pass defense comes down to 3 things: PRESSURE by the D-line, bad throws, and drops.

Give me a d-backfield that tackles well and has recovery speed and you'll be successful.
