WV Playoff Travel (Some in Ohio thought they had it bad !!)

Post by FANOSPORTS »

#14 Pocahontas County (7-3) vs. #3 Wahama (10-0)

Note: They will be coming from the Marlinton/Dunmore (smack dab in the mountains folks) area in WV & via mapquest will have to travel between 218 to 248 miles one way depending on which route they take and it'll take anywhere from 4 to 4 1/2 hr. for a 1st round game in Mason county. That's another reason in itself to try to go undefeated I guess. Wow !!!!!

And I was there to watch that game on a fine Saturday afternoon! I think it was 2007.

I'm sure the reason is because there aren't enough teams in WV to break down into regions. In single A I believe there are only 25-30 schools in the whole state.

Pocahontas County is facing more like a six hour trip if they travel by school bus.
The school is actually in Dunmore, a minimum one hour drive from the nearest four
lane road. They are about 20 miles from Snowshoe, Cass and Greenbank Radio Observatory.
God's country for sure.

I agree by bus it's about 6 hours but by car it would be shorter lol
