Week 8: Meigs (5-2) (2-0) at Wellston (3-4) (1-1)

Post by indianabuck »

Is Meigs going to continue to show they are the second best team in the TVC Ohio or will Wellston use last weeks momentum and beat Meigs at home.

Wellston will have to have more consistency in tackling and have the best passing game of the season to be competitive. I know that they will play hard for all four quarters. Meigs will be ready. I am looking forward to seeing them play.

Read on another thread that Dutch/Hutch/Clutch had the boys ready last week. He'll have to do an extra special job of getting them ready this week and will still need a lot of help from the boys wearing the stripes, which he usually does get that at home. Meigs rolls.

Meigs likes to run it up. So I will guess, 54 to 12, Meigs.

Meigs putting up 47 points against Vinton is hardly running up the score. Meigs only scored twice in second half.
Coach Bartrum put his JV squad in beginning of 4th quarter with about 11 minutes in the game and there were
no more marauder scores when the score was 47-8.

Vinton Coach left his first team varsity in for next two possessions for offense and defense against the Meigs JV.
That allowed the Vinton varsity rack up some good offensive stats and score two late touchdowns against the Meigs JV.

It is hard for anyone objective to say Meigs ran up the score. Many people would say Vinton ran up their score.
Most don't really care when this happens. Just glad that no one got hurt when Vinton coach leaves in a big and talented
varsity team against a JV team to try to close the scoring gap.

I wasn't at the game, but my friends and some family were there and they said when it was 39-8 late in the third quarter Meigs was going to a hurry-up offense and still throwing the ball. It was also said that Meigs ran the score up the week before at Nelsonville. So I don't know what to believe.

If it was up to me , I would have left the starters in and keep running the off, the same way they were, I remember back on mike chancey when Vinton was up by 13 point with less than a minute to go and Vinton pass the ball for another touchdown, but that is ok, they never ran the score up on ny, and didn't run it up on Vinton. Look back over the years when teams would beat meigs by 30 or 40 and everything is ok with that, but meigs puts up 40 points or more and that's a sin, its football people, how would you fill if the score was 77-7 at the half, what would that be called.

Wasn't the Meigs v. Nelsonville game at Meigs? Anywho, I am glad Meigs runs up the score if that is what you call it. It's about time someone in Meigs County takes advantage of the ability to do that. Leaving the starting offense in late in the game is no different than leaving the starting defense in to keep someone from scoring. Letting the 2nd team throw the ball late in the game when you are way up is no different than blitzing the house with your 2nd team defense when you are way up.

you can say that again the bad part is that meigs was only six kids away from getting dropped into fairlands region which would put them 7th with the points they have right now, not to mention they would have more points being a lower division. But hey, if meigs wins out they will be in there for sure ;-)

The formula for points doesn't change no matter what division you are in so their points would be exactly the same as they are now if they were in D5. It doesn't matter if you are D2 or D6, you get exactly the same point total for beating a given team at the end of the season.

so what your saying is that if meigs is d4 and beats athens (d2) they get the same amount of points if say trimble (d7) beats athens???
