10-0 9-1 Missing playoffs.
I know in 2001 newcomerstown went 10-0 and missed in region 15. But that year was loaded with good teams ironton was 10-0 and at 35.5571
wellston went 8-2 that year and missed
granville, waverly and heath all also missed at 8-2 so was a good region.

If you're winning 80% of your games and missing the playoffs consistently, your schedule sucks. Lol but, if you're winning and don't make it one year because the region is stacked. That's just the way it is.

When the Arnold kid was a senior at NY they missed the playoffs at 8-2.

2001 region 15 was loaded ironton would have been number 1 in any region except 3 and 4

In todays playoff system if a team goes 10-0 and can't even get an 8 seed that tells me one of two things, they're in the wrong conference (all smaller schools than themselves by one or two divisions) or playing a schedule of absolutely terrible opponents.

07 Waterford went (9-1) and missed the playoffs only loss was to the state champion Wahama White Falcons by 1 week 1. Prob Waterford’s best team.

I know Athens this year( as of now is sitting at 11) at 7-1. Should be 8-1 going into week 10 vs NY. It is still possible for Athens to go 9-1 and miss the playoffs this year. 9-1 will probably make them in however, but still possible to not make it. That is if they beat NY. If they lose they will most likely miss the playoffs at 8-2.

9-1 Athens makes the playoffs unless something weird happens but 8-2 does not. The Canal lost was big. The non league hurt Athens since Warren and Logan are awful programs. Plus Watkins fell apart for some reason.SEO Sports wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 2:07 pm I know Athens this year( as of now is sitting at 11) at 7-1. Should be 8-1 going into week 10 vs NY. Athens needs to drop Logan and Warren and pick up teams like Jackson, Waverly, Unioto, Bloom Carroll, or Ironton. Teams Athens can beat that offer a lot of points

Athens is prime example of big fish in a small pond. They should never be in the Tvc playing so many d5 d6 teamsSEO Sports wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 2:07 pm I know Athens this year( as of now is sitting at 11) at 7-1. If they step up the non league schedule they would be fine.X8XOHIOLEGENDX7X wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 2:44 pmAthens is prime example of big fish in a small pond. Warren isn't going to be good for a long while. Pick up a better opponent there and that already helps a lot.
If Logan can get things going again that would help as well.
Athens just ended the streak so they will keep Logan for a couple more years regardless. I think the Chiefs are going to make some changes this off season so hopefully that will help turn the corner.

Re: 10-0 9-1 Missing playoffs.
Athens ought to drop Warren and try to add Point Pleasant, WV. It's an hour trip at most, provides a great game Week 1, and provides playoff points for both schools I believe. I'd recommend Jackson, but Wellston isn't leaving Jackson's Week 1 schedule anytime soon, Canal Winchester is too good of an opponent to drop Week 2 (unless you can get them to move to a different week), and Logan is on Jackson's Week 3 schedule. Also Athens plays Parkersburg South, WV week 3 the next 2 years at least.
It would be nice starting as early as 2021 to see Athens-Jackson-Logan play in a mini-league series the first 3 weeks of the season. Athens-Logan play Week 1 to allow for Jackson-Wellston. Jackson plays Athens Week 2 to allow Teays Valley-Logan. Jackson-Logan play Week 3 and hopefully Athens plays Canal Winchester or Point Pleasant, WV. Helps with travel, great gates, and amazing tradition/competitive rivalries.

Chillicothe would be another team Athens could look to add to the schedule, probably in a Week 3 matchup.

Athens has a tough choice between winning games and making the playoffs . Adding Jackson and point pleasant are huge point games but likely losses. So do you wanna go 8-2 or 6-4
