Fairland 0 - 28 Gallia Academy

Post by MisterGalliaGuy2016 »

Folks, the Blue Devils travel down Route 7 to do battle with the Fairland Dragons. The Blue Devils are riding a 5 game win streak to start the season and this regular season streak dates back to week 3 of last year, with a heartbreaking loss to the Jackson Ironmen.

The Blue Devils are coming off a 17 point win against longtine rivals, the Portsmouth Trojans.

The Dragons come off a 24 point win against conference foe, Rock Hill.

Traditionally, meetings between the two have been shootouts. I see a 3TD+ win for the Blue Devils this time around. Don't get caught sleeping! No league game is to be taken lightly.

42-14 Final Prediction

As I just posted on the Ironton-Chesapeake thread, Gallia Academy is just a better all around team than the Dragons of Fairland, therefore they will come back to Gallipolis with a solid win.

Old SEOAL foes have done well over the years in all these other conferences :
Ironton (OVC)
Gallipolis (OVC)
Portsmouth (OVC)
Jackson (FAC)
Chillicothe (FAC)
Athens (TVC)
Nelsonville-York (TVC)
Waverly (SOC)
* Logan has no home but would be more than competitive in all the above*

Do NOT take Fairland lightly. We were stunned by them at Proctorville 2 years ago, I know that was not the same 2 teams, but this year seems eerily similar.

Turn overs will tell the tale if gallipolis takes care of the ball they can win this game. Fairland has good skill guys a good coach and can score anytime. Lock in and take care of business.

Starting second half of season. Blue devils need to still iron out a few things. number one of which is do not roll the quarterback to the left unless you know he has a easy throw to that flat. That is the only throw he can make rolling that way. Take the rest of those plays out of playbook. Drop him back or roll him right. Defense needs to start a little faster. Not be so vanilla to start game.

Probably the most important to me is we need to keep all the players out of the dog house. if we want to get past week 11 we are going to need all of them. Kids are going to make mistakes. drop balls blow assignments. There teammates need to pick them up. I think early in season what we have done is fine. Kid makes a few two many mistakes. take him out of game plan a week or two. show him he has to perform. But now is time for us to get running on all cylinders.

Couldn't agree more on what you have said on QB play I wouldn't roll either way his feet are not his strong point he really struggled rolling left and rolling right he and most high school quarterbacks float the ball too much. one thing I am seeing is timing routes he has thrown some really nice balls but on reading and checking down it is moving too fast at this time need to iron it out or run a lot more time patterns once you see the matchups you want according to formations. I also agree with the part about keeping all the athletes involved that need to be involved. You have to get there attention now lets build them up and see if we can make a run.

I think GA is a better team but Fairland does have many good athletes that could hurt us. I am starting to see the offense open up more for GA which is exciting. Last week saw a glimpse of a power package. Also over the last few weeks we have seen we have many athletes who can make plays.#5 (Not a great athlete but does have special arm strength and accuracy), #34,#1,#3,#20, #6, #24 all are dangerous in open field & are very exciting players to watch. Anyone of those can have a big night & will/can hurt you. The QB play is picking up, starting to see leadership from him. The line continues to dominate and will continue to. Very excited for this matchup fairland is no push over and will give our athletes a really good test and fit. Hope I do not leave Proctorville with the same taste in my mouth as I did 2 years ago.

Gallia wins this. I believe the blue devils will be possibly beat Ironton. There big and fast, can throw and run. A good football team.

Not a whole lot of talk this week from the Blue Devil faithful, nor the Dragons. Is this going to be one of those games that is a trap for Gallia? Overlooking Fairland and could get their first L. I think this one will be closer than anybody wants.

I doubt that the coaching staff is overlooking Fairland. Maybe some of the faithful posters on here are, but I am not. Proceed with caution!
