Great game. I thought Trimble was better but just didn't put Springfield away. Let them stick around

Tough one for Trimble. They usually win the close ones and this one will sting a little more because they were definitely the better team. Just some things didn’t go their way. Would love to hear an explanation on the 2 point conversion called back and how it wasn’t offsides on Springfield? That’s the game in a nutshell right there. Cats dominated the line of scrimmage, and Springfield made plays when they needed too and got the calls to go their way when they needed it most. Just imagine if Cats were in D7 like their enrollment says they should be- cake walk to final 4, that’s a pill that’ll never be easy to swallow.
Great season.
Great class of seniors.

Why do you not run the ball though? 1st and goal with a hot back.

Seriously though, the 2 point conversion should of counted. From our seats they were offside

2 point conversion should have counted. Absolutely no reason it didn’t. Will be the most talked about play and makes it even worse that’s there’s no explanation. It’s called MUDDLE HUDDLE, and it was ran to perfection, and legal.

Never one to complain about judgment calls. But when points are taken off the board and calls overturned on no basis, that’s a different story. It’s sad that’s the thing that’ll forever stick out when thinking of this playoff season.

I bet Southern fans feel the same way sportsfan 101.
Even with the 2 pt conversion the defense gave up a 50 yard play on 4th and 9 and a 3rd and 10 on the same drive. Sometimes you just got to make plays. Springfield did that tonight and Trimble did that last week.

Was wandering why the cats didn't kick a field goal right before half? that would have been huge.

I understand that but those calls last week were judgment calls. This wasn’t a judgment call, this was a misinterpretation of rules which makes it worse. It looked like with 23 seconds and no timeouts on 3rd down it was call 2 plays and go for it, or kick on 3rd.. they chose the 1 option.

It wasn’t a “hold” or a “blindside” or any other judgment call. It was an ignore the offsides and determine it was a illegal snap or formation- neither of which was true. After 3 minutes of discussion it’s never good to change call and fake points off. Just inexplicable and would love a legit explanation after they watch the film back and see what was even called.

You’re right though it’s really hard to blame one call, even though it had a tremendous impact. Cats had their chances and every bounce just went the other way. A few short years ago we called it destiny. Maybe it’s just Springfield’s year. Although they need to avoid a physical run team because they didn’t have an answer for that tonight. But that have a really good team with great coaching and lots of speed. Rooting for them here on out!

Why not go 2 minute offense on 3rd and save the Timeout for 4th. The ball was on the 4. That is basically an extra point for the kicker and the one he made he had plenty of distance. Haven't see him kick a ton but it had to be a better option than a heave up in the air that was picked off.

On the flag it was thrown as soon as ball was snapped. So not sure what happened but at least it was thrown quick. That was why I assumed not enough men on line of scrimmage or something of that nature. But again when you have a defense that had 9 shutouts you expect a stop. And still you had the ball in your hands with a shot at winning. Can not blame the refs when you the 2 point conversion with 5 minutes to go was your 1st penalty of the game!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Trimble on an outstanding season, enjoyed following you throughout the whole season, a very tough way to end the year, but I have no doubt at all that you will be back again next year, because that's the Trimble way.

Congratulations Trimble!!! With that being said I think the end of the first half was a killer! Gotta take points when you can in these kinda games. But I am sure there coach had his reasons ! Tough to lose like that but the TVC is proud of you

I'm an outsider from the St Clairsville area that took in this game last evening. My opinions, Springfield was the more balanced team, run pass, plus a remarkable PK. Trimble attempted only two passes the entire first half with one being the int in the EZ final play. They did not pass again until six minutes left in the game on the two pt attempt. Trimble got their break on the first Springfield drive with the fumble recovery on the ten, the player was down !
I was very impressed with the Trimble O line, they were always going toward remaining on their feet.
