I was kinda surprised they only had 14 playoff teams in their history. I'm not disrespecting, just thought they would have had some prior to 1996. It was extremely tough to make it years ago,I understand.

Weren’t very good from early 80’s until 1989. Started having solid teams. Finished 5th I think in 1990 and 1998...maybe 95 as well.

Hopefully #15 this year

1990 - 8-2 - Finished 5th
1992 - 8-2 - Finished 5th
1995 - 8-2 - Finished 6th
1998 - 9-1 - Finished 5th

Definitely some close calls in that decade. Made it in 1996, 1997, 1999.

Also went 8-2 in 1994 but finished 9th that year, which is pretty unusual. '90, '92, '94, '95 were all in D2, Region 7 or Region 8.

Moved to D3 in 1996, but would have been a #1 seed in R7 or R8 that year anyway.

Another close one that I just noticed was 1980.

Jackson went 8-1-1. Lost to Portsmouth and tied Ironton. Finished 3rd in the region back when two teams made the playoffs. Ironton and John Glenn were the two teams that got in the playoffs in that region.

Probably the right thing to do for the safety of the kids for two reasons

I doubt Athens will be the only one going to this.

No doubt about that !!!

The 1990s no doubt sure was a dominant time for Ironmen Football.

Definitely some star teams.

But the defense those teams had during those Times were phenomenal. There were times that defenses felt letdown when a team got a first down in the entire game !! Let alone score points.
