Don’t be Surprise that in a few short years. Week 10 between VC/Wellston will be for the TVC crown

Portsmouth and river valley are done and the Trojans play Wellston week 3 next year. I believe at Wellston. I’m looking forward to this game. Not sure what the rockets bring back but my trojans have a ton to replace.

Wellston key losses to graduation. RB-S-Rylan Molihan, T-DE-Josh Bodey, T-NG-Zach Howell, WR-OLB-Garrett Patton. Otherwise their pretty loaded.

I’d try and get the ball into Hunter Smiths hands as mush as possible. Throw it up and let him go after it. He will make the play. When I watched him last year in 3/4games. Every time he got it his way he made it happen.

The Golden Rockets had a good year last year, BUT that was last year. This year will present new challenges of its own. The first game with Oak Hill should not be taken lightly. They made a good showing in soc 2 and will be looking to make a statement in the season opener. The sound coming from the launch pad is bigger, faster, stronger. This season opener will no doubt be an in County Civil War. Stay clear of the launch pad. Go Rockets.

Wellston will 6-7 games again this coming season with a 6-8 ranking for the playoffs if everything falls into place. tons of talent and a solid schedule in year 2 of a system that seems to really fit the Rockets athletes.

It helped that Ryan Molihan was involved....he will be missed...bad.....they need someone to step up and fill his role in a similar manner.....hunter smith should provide that but the rockets need someone to establish a threat running the ball on any down and distance to setup hunter smith....should be a fun a year again....

Wellston was the most surprising team in 2019 and I can’t wait to see what the new coach can build at Wellston. I have often thought they were a sleeping giant with some of the talent they have had in the past but never really got it together except for the Coach Hinton years.

That being said, I agree that week 10 will determine the championship in a few years but it will probably be the the game in Athens county as usual ;)

Wellston should not have lost the game with Athens last year. At that point they had become too predictable with the offense. The same with Vinton County.

Whether their offense was predictable or not, Vinton County was to physical up front. Wellston’s QB was running for his life the whole game. It wouldn’t have mattered what offense they ran that night.

Didn’t Wellston play without their really good running back against Vinton County?

Not sure, but I don't think they played with an offensive line. I think Vinton County had like 8 sacks that game. Not even sure Wellston had over 100 yards on offense.

Their good RB, Molihan, played the whole game.

Flexworth, the QB was on the run, not only the VC game but the two games before also. But to say that the Vikings were too physical up front? No. The Rockets held a strong Jackson team to a 17 point difference. The passing game became very predictable and was easy to defend.

Jackson was terrible offensively early in the season. Held Wellston to maybe 25 total yards.
