2020 River Valley Raiders Football Schedule

I know it's still 5 months away, but I've been stuck/quarantine in the house and I am wanting to talk about something positive!

Raiders schedule in 2020 will look a lot different then 2019. Starting right off the bat in Week 1. Raiders replace Coal Grove with a 2 year series against Piketon. With GA off the schedule, the Raiders are moving up the South Gallia game to Week 2. Then in Week 3, Portsmouth is being replaced by fellow OVC member South Point. As of right now, RV has an opening in Week 10. Here is the Raiders 2020 schedule.

Week 1- Piketon
Week 2- @ South Gallia
Week 3- South Point
Week 4- Nelsonville York
Week 5- @ Meigs
Week 6- Wellston
Week 7- @ Alexander
Week 8- Vinton County
Week 9- @ Athens
Week 10- Open

Piketon, SG and South Point in first 3 weeks A LOT different then Coal Grove, GA and Portsmouth!

Who else within a 2/3 hour radius has that week open? I know SG used to have that open but with the shakeup of the hocking, that’s changed for them. This is just another reason the TVC Ohio needs to get to an even number of teams.

As you know, week 10 is typically rivalry week. I’d say it will be nearly impossible to get a game. However, 9 games isn’t a terrible thing. It lowers the divisor.

I agree. The 9 game schedule means your not going 0-10 at least.

Seems like Fort Frye is always looking for games. I think if they'd install a turf field they'd have better luck keeping teams on their schedule. Just a thought.

Looking forward to making the trip to RV for week one. Paul Nance and I went to school together, was glad he was able to get these two teams together. Piketon returns 18 starters, with several other who saw action.

Yes but on OHSAA, they say that the team they are playing is looking to get out of the contract. I would assume that’s Magnolia.

Jones and Hash are sophomores, so, Weber and Bowman will be the only 2 returning seniors.

Piketon/River Valley game should be pretty good. I would say Raiders have edge on defense and Red Streaks have edge on offense. It will be fun to watch.
