The real 2020 season

Post by wobycat »

Can we just discuss the season as if it is going forward
? Please. What’s everyone’s thoughts without bringing up you know what?

Ironton and Jackson look to be the strongest teams on paper.

As a burgfan, I’m excited to see what they can do. I think they may be better than what some anticipate.

Waverly looks like they can put up some major points.

Got a lot of talent in the area too as far as players.

Cat

The Ironmen had some kids that hasn’t played football for a few years come back out for this year. What a HUGE plus. Coach Hall has an array of skilled kids there. Speedy. Athletic. All the numbers are there for the program. The time and works gettin put in.

As far as your Burg. It’s tha Burg....are they ever honestly down n out ?!?!?.....LOTS of folks wrote them off last year just mere weeks into the season.

But after the Jackson game they turned it around. Quick. I assume they will pick up where they left off......

Think if we're looking at power rankings for the area.
1. Jackson
2. Ironton-- return guys but lost some major talent
3. Waverly--healthy shanks and return the entire line and skilled players. Shoemaker huge loss
4. Minford-- this was a coin flip between them and burg minford just returns couple major players
5. Burg

Look for Piketon to score a lot of points this year could be one of the better offenses in the area. Northwest also returns most of their team as well.

Goose wasn’t. Northwest fairly
Going last year ?? A few bad breaks early on and this team maybe in a doffenrevt season ? Could be wrong.

Piketon should score and worh new schools and facilities going on there good things to come.

Jackson does have the pieces but need some kids to step up , fill big time roles especially in the leadership and unselfish moves to make this team go

Hard to go against the Figjtin Tigers. Since December 2017 they went from no coach and people calling I-Town a dumpster fire to being state runner-ups by the end of 2019. Impressive to say the least and whatever they are doing. It’s working.

Wellston will improve again. RJ Kemp and Hunter Smith should be an awfully nice QB/WR duo.

Vinson County will only get better under Travis Bethel. The Vikings definitely tapped the right man to get things back on track. Would’ve be suprised if a week 10 matchup between the Vikings/Golden Rockets isn’t for an TVC championship sooner than later.

The OAks were competitive in Theor new found home. And they’ll continue to get better as well. Hopefully people there will
Give them time to do what it takes to get there

Logan will be there. Soon. That Logan Chieftan center is absolutely amazing and We NEED ONE at Jackson. If ya haven’t checked it out. It’s a must see. The numbers are out there. It’s just a matter of time before Logan is Logan again.

Waverly is gonna be good.

Minford appears to be on the up n up

Tha Burg is Tha Burg

Gallia Academy comin off successful campaign and wouldn’t love nothing more to slip to the Tank and walk out OVC champs and they very well just may.

N-Y is tradition rich and Athens will be waiting for them.

All n all SEO football is alive n well.

I just hope some of these teams can go on and wreck havoc on the state level.

Fort Frye returns a ton and after going 48-1 the last 5 seasons in the reg season a 10-0 seasons seem likely. Fort Frye returns JR QB Ian Ellis , SR RB Brian Adkins , SO RB Owen Brown , JR FB Colin Welsh as well as a huge offensive line lead by All-State SR Dylan Hart.

Good points.

I’d rank them
1. Jackson
2. Ironton
3. Burg
4. Waverly
5. Gallia

Coach Huck has just turned what was the worst program in Washington County into a juggernaut. What happened is the first couple years they snuck into the playoffs and got smashed but the entire community just ate it up. Basketball players that never was interested in football started to come out for the team. Jr high teams are loaded SO class might be the best class they have. Coach Huck goes for his 100th win in the first game of the year.

08 3-7
09 6-4
10 7-3
11- 5-5
12- 8-3. Playoff 0-1

If as Sophomores Carter and Carpenter are as good as advertised and Ironton stays healthy they will be playing week 14/15

Nelsonville-York will have a very strong defense this year. The Bucks will be able to hang the hats on it.
This senior class is determined to put more Paint on the Wall.

Is carpenter going to be the starter you think?

Portsmouth lost a ton of kids which was a ton of starters. Parker can’t be replaced so running back will be a issue. Not sure about receivers. The line will be small again. I don’t know what to expect 6-4 7-3. If it’s 12 teams a region that will put them in. Gallia will be a really hard game and ironton will be on a state run again. Valley should be improved from last season when they almost beat Portsmouth. Wellston at wellston will be tough. I’m not sure what the rockets have coming back. And I think fairland will surprise some teams.

Piketon returns to be Jr Qb Gullion who threw for 1971 yards with 58% completion rate. 5 wide receivers in to be Sr Chandler, Maynard and Fuller, and 2 to be Jrs Burton and Loar who were in top 10 of the league in yards and receptions. Have to replace running Back Henderson, probably be a few weeks into preseason for someone to stand out. Return 4 starting Olinemen. Defense will be improved. Lost 4 SR’s from last year but have a bunch of kids who saw time coming back. Numbers are good 45 + so far.
