Ironton’s Carrico Front Runner for Mr. Football in Ohio

Post by XandOs »

Just read an article on a Cleveland site where they listed Reid Carrico as the front runner to win Mr. Football in the state. The writers listed a lot of good candidates with big numbers but nobody really doing it on both sides of the ball like Carrico and he’s putting up huge numbers on both sides. My question is? would He and Joe Burrow be the only two ever from our part of Ohio to win the coveted award?

Buster Howe Zanesville was the first MR Football. Went to Ohio State.

As a senior in 1987, he rushed for 1,795 yards (6.9 yards per carry) and scored 34 touchdowns. As a single wing back, he added 431 passing yards. He also had eight interceptions, three field goals, 38 extra points and averaged 40.9 yards per punt.

Carrico should get it. The Pick North kid is sitting out and the Massillon kid hasn't put up big numbers

It would be well deserved. That’s for sure. Watched the game against Cincinnati Sycamore and he was a straight up stud. Hope he gets it!!

I believe Nelsonville-Yorks Justin Gail was runner up to Charles Woodson in 1994

I think it helped more with the kid from wyoming winning it and being inb the running the year before they were D4 when he won it but your right not a lot of small division players get the look

no competition don't gotta compete, I'm already winning this isn't defeat 😵

Zanesville is in the East District and is not considered either SE or Southern Ohio.

5:2 odds that Carrico gets the nod here for this award. Congrats to the young man.

I’m a Portsmouth fan but congrats to the Carrico boy. I’ve enjoyed watching him and reading about him. His work ethic is something other kids should look at. He’s worked his tail off to improve and it really shows. I hope he gets it.

Not my logic, they are geographically EASTERN Ohio. You can call them SE all you want, it can be your opinion, however technically you are simply just plain old wrong!

Mr. Football winners by Division since 2010.

2010 - D4
2011 - D4
2012 - D1
2013 - D3
2014 - D3
2015 - D2
2016 - D2

I hope he takes it. Watching Reid compete has been refreshing. Even from a distance it’s easy to see he is grounded and humble, as well as polite. Young people need to take notes. Oh and he is a heckuva football player!! O-H
